Some shots of our Small Grains field day today. We took a group of participants to 4 different fields and talked about wheat disease control, variety development and selection, and oat/pea intercropping research. Its always fun to show and tell. #wheat #oat

Preparing the first batch of inoculum for 2025. The job of a plant pathologist almost never ends (even during the off-season!) #Xylaria #2025 #fungus @MSSOY

Six weeks late but, I’m happy to announce that I’ve taken a permanent position with USDA/APHIS as a Supervisory Entomologist in MI. Happy to say I get to play a small role in protecting the nations forests, and I couldn’t be more proud to work for an organization like the USDA ❤️

Sorghum is an excellent host for root-knot #nematode, Meloidogyne incognita. Inoculated with 16,500 juveniles in a greenhouse test, the population density soared to over 2 million upon test termination 😱 @activeplantnema

"I'm safe - I'm not in the cone." That's a terrible state of mind. As #Idalia intensifies in the Gulf of Mexico tonight and tomorrow, the wind field will expand. It's what happens. So yes, while Central Florida should be spared the worst impacts from Idalia, it likely will still produce tropical storm force winds all across Central Florida. For those in Sumter and Marion counties, I'm a bit more worried for some stronger tropical storm force winds - up to 60 mph - gusts could be up to hurricane force. Bottom line - just because you aren't IN the cone, doesn't mean you can't be impacted by the storm!

Growth cracks on tomato can be caused by dry weather followed by excessive watering or a period of rain. Basically, plants get too much water too fast & the skin can’t stretch to take on the extra fluid resulting in cracking to alleviate pressure
