@SmallTimeVC This is quite fascinating. As an Avis Preferred member, I simply walk up to the lot, find my name on the board, go to my assigned car and drive away. It’s hard to disrupt an industry where the frequent users are already taken care of.

I have a concept for this; since ideas are worthless, happy to share it over a whisky ... (1 x 🥃) > (0 x 💰)

Feeling for my poor missus @AndreaMGardiner - she had a stack on the slopes yesterday and fractured her knee 🤕👎. Crutches for 2 months now. We need a frequent flyer pass for the Aspen hospital emergency dept. 5 visits in last 4 years...

@lukeyh13 Yeah, it’s a little harder to do, but we can see a spike in downloads when the issue came out and are able to track that cohort through to conversion so it’s not impossible.

My first attempt at designing a full page magazine ad turned out pretty well I think.

@buildthefutures Yes, I think consumers still trust TV / print advertising more than online advertising.

@jrmck I also wonder if “traditional” forms of advertising add some level of credibility. It’s very simple for anyone to create and post a FB ad. I wonder if TV, print, radio etc, whilst not as targeted, helps with building trust? Obviously this is super important for babysitting etc.

@buildthefutures There are still a lot of niche audiences out there and high quality publications targeting them. This one (Mama Disrupt) has a loyal following amongst our core demographic.

I know startups want (need) to do everything on a shoestring, but it is NOT OK to copy and paste a competitors Terms of Service and publish them as your own. 🤦‍♂️

@SmallTimeVC Yes, absolutely. We even have a template Cease & Desist, it’s happened to us so many times.

@SmallTimeVC Agreed. Not so many open-source ones for childcare marketplaces though so they think they can just rip off from us without any regarding to our investment in those Ts&Cs.

There are two places to find new ideas: places no one has looked before, and places where people have looked, but not hard enough. Kids are taught that big ideas come from the former, but the latter may actually be more promising.
