You won’t hear this on Fox News: California just released a balanced budget that wipes out the deficit this year AND next — while protecting health care and safety nets. Meanwhile, Trump ADDED $2.4 TRILLION to the federal deficit with his “Big Beautiful Betrayal.” Republicans ruin budgets. Democrats balance them. Adulting matters.

Almost a third of the membership of the Congressional Black Caucus are at risk of losing their seats through the 2028 election cycle as Republicans in southern states where they control the legislature move swiftly to redraw congressional maps. abcnews.link/KhpDUZx

@Brcremer Why is it always reverends and politicians that keep playing the race card. It’s not real! Just because something doesn’t go your way doesn’t mean it’s racism. Everyday Americans have moved past this. You should too.

@RKirbySC Calm down snowflake. Majority of South Carolinians want to redistrict. It’s time. Lines should not be drawn based on color. Period.

Ok-Here we go-States Rights be damned-we are now witnessing the Federal Executive Branch dictating our statewide elections and our electorate in a mid-census redistricting that will at best strain our ability to continue our state’s excellent history of fair elections in SC! VOTE
Gov. Henry McMaster@henrymcmaster

I have issued an Executive Order calling the General Assembly back for an extra legislative session to address the state budget and congressional districts beginning Friday, May 15, at 11:00 AM.

If Republicans erase Jim Clyburn’s district, I will do everything in my power to help Democrats flip every last one of South Carolina’s newly-drawn districts. And that’s a promise.

🚨 NEW: Governor @henrymcmaster is calling a SPECIAL SESSION on Friday morning, per @RepAdamMorgan. It will only take a SIMPLE MAJORITY to pass the new map. No more 2/3 nonsense. No more excuses. We have the votes. Time to REDISTRICT NOW, carve up Clyburn’s gerrymandered 6th District, and lock in a 7-0 Republican U.S. House delegation for South Carolina in 2026! The Senate blocked the People’s Will once already. Don’t do it again, @shanemassey! Patriots: Call, email, and flood your Senator’s office TODAY. Demand they vote YES for redistricting the second the gavel drops. HAVE YOU CALLED OR EMAILED TODAY? 1. Only career politicians like Nancy Mace and Alan Wilson see support as something to be traded for political favors. They pretended to back President Trump, hoping for something in return. Now that they know they won’t get his support, they accuse him of corruption. That’s exactly why neither is qualified to lead South Carolina.
Nancy Mace@NancyMace

Imagine a Governor who calls a special session at 5:01 p.m., the moment the Senate gavels out, to finish the budget and redraw Congressional maps the way the Constitution requires. Imagine a Governor who does not trade endorsements for the special session. Imagine that Governor is me. South Carolina STRONG.

The white ruling class in South Carolina wasn’t going to be less racist than Louisiana, Florida, Alabama or Mississippi. In fact, at the beginning of the Civil War it was South Carolina that enslaved a larger percentage of their own population (57%) than any other state. Worse than anywhere else in the Confederacy. They’re the OG racists, the most disreputable ruling class in the entire United States and somehow their descendants are still in power. That needs to end immediately.

@austinhjackson @deerretlaw @ClyburnSC06 So why not do something in those 5 years you controlled? Because your constituents rely on the govt paying for them instead of getting jobs and earning money. My parents live in his district. They cannot point to one thing he has done for his districts, plural.

@jrossm74 @deerretlaw @ClyburnSC06 Because the Republicans have been in control for all but five years of that time, and quashed any attempt to raise the minimum wage in the last 15 years. Try again.

While SC’s min. wage continues to sit at 7.25/hr, @ClyburnSC06 is the only SC congressperson who openly supports a $15/hr minimum & broader worker-pay protections for the people of his state & country. “America First” is a slogan & just talk to his coworkers, Clyburn walks it.

Gerrymandering is bad no matter who does it. But the reality is the only way it will ever end is by electing a Democratic majority and banning it for good on a federal level.
