Its been great leading a team with @agrobaz, @GrainOrana, @far_australia & @Moodie_ag for @theGRDC Pulse Agronomy project. Total N-fix and N balance measured 2021-2023 (515 data points). Average pulse crop had ~100 kg N/ha leftover after harvest (excluding lentils @ 26 kg/ha).

@GribbleRC The dealer originally claimed the optispread chopper was blocking because the PSD belt was slipping I think they over tightened and overloaded the bearing. The bearing failed and destroyed the coupler. It’s hidden and not easy to see when doing the daily inspection.

@Kerin_Ag @NtDrifter I think that would be average exit weight. Otherwise average days on feed would be 200 days plus on average. What weight do you usually put your trade cattle into a feedlot at?

"THE TIMES THEY ARE A CHANGING” ✳️ 1.5 million head of cattle on feed at the moment ✳️ Average weight from induction to exit 550 kg @ 50 kg per DSE = 11 DSE per beast X by 1.5 million head = 16.5 million DSE ✳️ Average stock turns 2.6 per year which = 42.9 million DSE ✳️ Time on feed for Lambs averages around 70 days which in a year = 5.2 stock turns & if we rate a lamb @ 1.5 DSE per head = 57.2 million Lambs on feed per year. Which is pretty close to the entire Australian sheep population. Food for thought & once you do the numbers it puts things into perspective. #beefcentral #feedtech #ep3 #shepardfeeders #rma #proagni #abclandline #kerinpollmerino #lambex25 #forflockssake #nextgenagri #optiweigh #MLA #AWI #merinoWA #merinowool #bestwoolbestlamb #grazingforprofit #jbs #tfi #alc #australianlamb #lambex #climateready

@darryn_browne I would consider just a generator then an inverter mig with gasless wire. The gasless mig is so much faster than stick welding and a lot cleaner.

@JarrodAmery @theGRDC Prill size, some years map is like sand other years it has a good prill size. Same for urea, makes it hard for spreading 36m if all small prill size. Be great to know if there is min requirements for prill size.

Has your fertiliser been arriving on farm damp this year? If so, listen to my clip and add any constructive questions you might have to help me. Thank you. ⁦@theGRDC

"WET SUMMER DIGIT GROWTH” 122 ha 7 paddocks 586 - 400 kg Heifers 58 DSE Ha 1.8 kg average daily gain Contracted price $3:70 kg Gram Am Urea blend $600 ton 175 kg ha of fert ha Fert costs $105 ha or $12810:00 1.8 kg X $3:70 = $6:66 X 586 head =$3902:00 of weight gain per day $12810 fert costs divided by $3902 = 3.28 days of weight gain to cover fertiliser input costs. Soil moisture probes are telling us we will get 55-65 days of growth with no rainfall events. If & only if all things go to plan that's a gross return of $1919:00 per ha for the next 60 days. The biggest bang for buck 💰you will find when it comes to value adding rainfall received is fertiliser. @agrobaz Could the straight line could be the history of crops using the nutrition before the tree was removed, giving a similar straight line effect to the spraying?

I’ve been watching this little spray teardrop since 2015 where there’s a spot that missed imazapic because there was a single tree there. Amazes me we see it 9 years on, plain as day. Zoom in. Interestingly not too bad in tt canola 🤷‍♂️

@agrobaz @theGRDC @AEGIC We still need better/more markets so pulses can be more profitable. GRDC need to invest in developing more markets. A bit like the meat industry making off cuts expensive like lamb shanks, brisket etc

@theGRDC @AEGIC This is awesome 👏👍. If pulses can mirror genetic and agronomic gain we’ve seen in canola over the past 20yrs our system will hum👍

@AEGIC estimates 3.3M tonnes of #pulses are grown in Australia each year. GRDC's investment in 5 new pulse projects will focus on: 1️⃣ Improving genetic gain for yield in chickpeas, faba beans & lentils 2️⃣ Enhancing nitrogen fixation 3️⃣ Enhancing rhizobia resources 4️⃣ Improved screening for heat tolerance in chickpeas 5️⃣ Improving Botrytis grey mould resistance in chickpeas & lentils Read more 👉 bit.ly/3NPmS3G

@AMC_DirtDollars In the Macquarie lidar was only a small part of the model, historic floods via satellite imagery were used. The lidar only shows what gets on the way of the water like roads, banks etc
