This weekend, it'll be 104 years since the passing of the first law to restrict immigration in the UK. The 1905 Aliens Act aimed to prevent Jews, who were seeking refuge from pogroms in Europe, to come here. The rhetoric and violence today is a rehash of this. We have to change.

We condemn the racist violence seen over the last few days. Our members, irrespective of their race or country of origin, are an essential part of our NHS and work hard for all patients whoever they may be. We stand with our members and the communities they live and work in.

State of Caring survey 2024 is out now. Have your voice heard! The survey will take 20-30 minutes to complete. We know carers are very busy, so we hugely appreciate every response we receive. surveymonkey.com/r/SW8D6XS?utm_…

Isn't interesting how right wing commentators, columnists and ex-MPs have suddenly decisd that the electoral system is unfair!🤣

So the election night that started with the ennoblement of good friend @CarolinePidgeon finally concludes with the return of another’s - Charles Kennedy’s - seat electing @angusmacdlibdem #LibDems And 71 other victories in between. A fantastic night for @EdwardJDavey

My totally unsolicited advice for @LibDemPress, having been in their shoes without these cards to play, they need to hammer this message directly with broadcasters now before they settle on their broad approach to representing opposition voices.

On vote share, let alone seats, Labour + LDs well ahead of Cons + Reform. Yet the broadcasters spent all night talking about Reform.

@PickardJE Agreed, but the significant number of 2nd place may matter more over time

credit to Reform UK for getting its first Parliamentary toehold but not sure that 4 out of 650 MPs is quite the major "breakthrough" that some are calling it
