@JonahDispatch If its an alliance then Trump isn't "asking for help". He is expecting them to do what they had agreed to and already cashed checks to do.

Sorry, Ari. I just saw your response. I think it is hilarious that rather than actually respond to my point, you simply opted to double down on your practice of carrying water for Trump like a modern-day Gunga Din. I think it's great that NATO is spending more on defense. I think Trump can be commended for encouraging it (though the turd-polishing of some folks on this front is often embarrassing. He primarily didn't do it to "save" NATO or even to make it stronger). But all of this is irrelevant to the point you dodged. If you think Trump has handled the transatlantic alliance well since being elected to his second term, say so. Own it. Don't deflect. But if that is your position, that's pure idiocy or dishonest spin. Our NATO allies *should* step up. It would be in their interest. But Trump has made the politics of that near-impossible by threatening Greenland, claiming that our allies didn't really fight in Afghanistan and Iraq, (not Vance's Munich performance, dicking around with Ukraine) etc. Even the far right (outside of Hungary) parties hate Trump now. Then, when Trump launched this war on Iran he said he didn't need any of their help because we already won. Now, he's asking for help, but he can't concede error or even ask nicely. So he implies their all cowards who need to muster "delayed courage." Defend that Ari. Hell simply acknowledge it.
Ari Fleischer@AriFleischer

Sorry Jonah. I actually sat in the room for the first half of the movie. For 24 polite years, Presidents Clinton, Bush and Obama diplomatically asked NATO members to increase defense spending. For 24 years, it was one excuse after another, all focused in Western Europe on how they wish they could spend more, but their social welfare spending priorities wouldn’t let them. In other words, you the US will spend on defense and protect us. Along comes rude Donald Trump. Finally, someone made clear that if Europe kept freeloading the US was done. It took a bill in the China shop to move Europe. Diplomacy failed. Trump prevailed. That’s reality whether you or I like it. NATO self-withered after 75 years. If Spain, England, Italy and France won’t spend what’s necessary to have a real military, it’s time for something new.

🚨 HOLY CRAP! Sec. Marco Rubio just CANCELED the legal status of slain Iranian Major General Qasem Soleimani's family members living in the US They're now in ICE custody, pending DEPORTATION. 🔥 Long overdue, thank you Marco! 🇺🇸 RUBIO: "Until recently, Hamideh Soleimani Afshar and her daughter were green card holders living in lavishly in the United States. Afshar is the niece of deceased Iranian Major General Qasem Soleimani. She is also an outspoken supporter of the Iranian regime who celebrated attacks on Americans and referred to our country as the "Great Satan." This week, I terminated both Afshar and her daughter's legal status and they are now in ICE custody, pending removal from the United States. The Trump Administration will not allow our country to become a home for foreign nationals who support anti-American terrorist regimes." 🔥

The only reason Project Hail Mary even exists as a bestselling novel and blockbuster movie is because Andy Weir, Phil Lord, and Chris Miller were old enough to avoid the DEI white male creative purge that hit AFTER they had already established their careers. Lord & Miller met at Dartmouth. Michael Eisner saw something they made written about in the Dartmouth student newspaper and hired them for their first Hollywood job right out of college. That chain of success was severed for all time, starting with DEI college admissions and the new hiring/scouting rules. A white male studio exec giving an Ivy League white male writing team their big break? That is just not happening anymore, at all.

Russian losses this March have reached their highest level since the start of the war: our drone strikes alone resulted in 33,988 Russian servicemembers killed or seriously wounded, while artillery and other strikes eliminated another 1,363 Russian occupiers. That means more than 35,000 Russian losses in just one month – and these are clearly verified losses. We have video documentation of every such strike in our system. I thank all our warriors for their precision. I will especially recognize the warriors of the Special Operations Center “A” of Ukraine’s Security Service, the “Magyar's Birds,” the State Border Guard Service special unit “Phoenix,” “Lasar’s Group,” and the 95th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade – these are the most effective units in the use of drones. The Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Mykhailo Fedorov, briefed me on the performance of all units at the front. We have clear and verified reports for every direction and every type of strike. We are ready to provide the relevant data to our partners. Essentially, Ukraine’s Defense and Security Forces have denied the occupier the ability to dictate the situation on the front line. Importantly, the results in the destruction of Russia’s air defense systems have also significantly increased, with 274 such systems hit in March alone. There have also been tangible results in the destruction of Russian depots and military logistics. The Ministry of Defense, together with the Armed Forces, will present a detailed report to the public for March – data that may be made public. I also approved with the Minister today a number of tasks for the coming weeks. In particular, we are preparing decisions to strengthen the Ukrainian infantry, the army contract system, and measures to address AWOL cases – measures that must genuinely work in practice. We are also preparing decisions to scale up the export opportunities of our weapons manufacturers and joint productions with partners. I thank our Defense Forces for the results! Glory to Ukraine!

🚨 NEW: Fox’s Marc Thiessen has a GENIUS PLAN to fund the re-opening of the Strait of Hormuz: “I think what President Trump ought to do is have a Hormuz Transit Tariff.” “Instead of Iran charging $2M per vessel going through the Strait, the U.S. will charge a $2M escort fee for every vessel — which is about $9B a month or $100B in revenue.” “We will waive that fee for any country that participates in the coalition to open up the Strait.” “That will open it and reward the good guys that are helping us and punish those staying on the sidelines,” @marcthiessen tells @BretBaier.

I'm going to keep saying this because people don't get it. Scalia literally refused to join footnotes or sections of opinions that cited legislative history. This wasn't a subtle, nuanced position of what you could and couldn't use it for. He thought floor statements worthless.
Dilan Esper@dilanesper

Wow. A whole lot of conservatives simply have no idea what Scalia's position on legislative history was. And this isn't a minor matter- Scalia CONVINCED other conservative judges on it and his view now commands a majority on SCOTUS!
