Alabama will argue they were just following the initial order — from the judge who is also a donor to the school — but NCAA has always said if you play players they deem ineligible those games are forfeited. I would imagine they are likely to argue that. Big mess for Bama.

Davey’s public attack on the players was the “ripping off the Band-Aid” moment this franchise might have needed. The zombie ownership situation has led to a zombie front office situation which has led to a lack of accountability on the coaching staff, specifically the failure to develop players. Bryce Harper just did what he used to do every year with the Nats. He hit an Opening Day homer, this time to dead-center off Lucas Sims. Harper was flailing hopelessly against the lefty Gore in two previous at-bats. He was happy to see a righty. Tie ball game.
