A stranger called me a 'good sister' when I was swimming with my sister who is disabled. Spending time with her is not an act of goodness. It's fun! Why am I a good sister and she isn't? We are good sisters to each other because we support each other. Don't call me a good sister.

@jonathanteacher I hate to say it but some of the worst menopause ridicule and ignorance that I’ve experienced has been from other women sadly. Thank you for taking the time to learn more.

@jonathanteacher Thank you 😍 can you imagine the impact this has on parenting a disabled child and the care coordination .. this goes totally unrecognised as we aren’t often employed.. often been unable to have a career in the first place 😞

You have to laugh seeing all the non-disabled people complain about having to book a place at the pub. Imagine if they were forced to plan every night out to the letter, spend 20 minutes on the phone to a waiter, only to turn up and find they still can’t get in.

So many parents of learning-disabled children and young adults just want one simple thing: for other people to care for their kids in the same way they do. Support, inclusion and acceptance: it really shouldn’t be beyond us. Never underestimate what a lonely road this can be.

@ronbollard66 @StAndrewsCare @PrioryGroup Errrr....nope! They even wanted her moved in the back of a secure transport van Instead her new support team provided a minibus decked out in decorations, with music, her mum next to her and a sat nav to follow her journey.
