Call me stupid, but I don't trust any company that uses "privacy" as a marketing tool. They usually engage in the same or worse practices than the competitors they compare themselves to. Furthermore, Proton already has a reputation for selling out anonymous journalists to governments, journalists who were using their email services.

Proton VPN just shared that it received 47 legal orders through June this year, all seeking to identify users behind specific server IPs and timestamps. Every one was denied, because its no-logs policy leaves no connection data to hand over. Per its transparency report, updated July 14, that brings the total since 2019 to 458 orders, with zero fulfilled. The company keeps no connection logs under Swiss law, so there is nothing to produce even when an order is binding.

A 19-year-old man accused of being part of the Scattered Spider hacking group has been arrested after investigators allegedly used a unique Windows identifier to track him down. According to U.S. prosecutors he was arrested in Finland before boarding a flight to Japan. He has since been extradited to the U.S. and faces charges including hacking, fraud, and conspiracy. Investigators say Microsoft shared information about a Global Device Identifier (GDID) with the FBI. GDID is a unique ID tied to Windows devices, and prosecutors claim it helped link the suspect’s computer to online accounts and hacking activity. Authorities say Scattered Spider has been linked to more than 100 cyberattacks and over $100 million in ransomware payments.

@Pirat_Nation This is why I now only buys games from @GOGcom. While I get the appeal of physical discs, I'm fine with a digital copy on my harddrive/NAS that I can install and play anytime I want. Also, this is bs because USB drives are cheap now. The tech is there, they just won't use it.

PlayStation announced that physical disc production for new games on its consoles will end in January 2028, with future titles releasing digitally only via the PlayStation Store and retailers. The PlayStation Store on PS3 and PS Vita will close in phases, starting in select regions in late 2026 and completing globally by July 2027, ending new content purchases. Previously purchased PS3 and PS Vita games remain downloadable for the foreseeable future, while pre-2028 physical games are unaffected by the disc production change.
