@ProudSocialist Well he did say in July 2001 that America was exaggerating the terrorist threat from Bin Ladin, so he is pretty sharp.

Ex-CIA analyst Larry Johnson just went on CNN in Turkey & spoke a truth the whole world needs to hear: “Israel wants all Arabs and Muslims to die. It’s possessed with this Zionist lie that it’s entitled to control the land from the Nile to the Euphrates. It is a fascist regime.”

@BBGreatMoments Not a balk, pitcher stepped off the rubber, hands still together. Coach should be ejected for leaving box and entering field of play in the middle of a play and then assisting runner.

Police stop a car for windows that are tinted too dark. An officer walks up to the passenger side and asks the passenger for ID. The passenger refuses — he isn’t the one driving, so why should he have to identify himself? After some tense back-and-forth, it turns out the driver (his uncle) has an active warrant. Now the debate starts: If the driver is wanted, should every passenger automatically have to show ID — even if they didn’t commit any violation? Is it reasonable officer safety… or a step into overreach? Where do you draw the line between investigation and individual rights?

Republicans love to bash California on Fox News — then they fly out here for the beaches, the weather, In-N-Out, and six-figure checks. Not exactly the “hell hole” they describe.

I traveled to El Salvador to conduct a wellness check on my constituent, Kilmar Ábrego Garcia. I kept my word, but when I arrived, I was denied access to see him. Kilmar deserves due process and his rightful day in court. We need to bring him home. I won’t stop until we do. #BringKilmarHome #DueProcessNow

POWERFUL: Rep. Ritchie Torres gets emotional defending Medicaid with a gut-punch story: Phyllis sold her home. She emptied her retirement. Just to care for her autistic son. When she finally qualified for Medicaid - it saved her $16,000 per month. Now MAGA wants it taken away.

CNN: Making necessary security changes to this plane is estimated to cost three times the value of the plane. In other words, for this 'free' plane, American taxpayers may pay an additional $800 million

Incredible. This Trump supporter who owns a construction business says he’s worried tariffs will drive up prices and claims every $1000 price increase wipes out 10,000 consumers from being able to build a home. He fucking voted for his business to collapse.

Lincoln convinced Congress to dissolve the court and its judgeships, replacing it with the Supreme Court of D.C., which consisted of four judges. Starting with Lincoln's appointments to the new court, the judgeships began to take on a more Union ideology @elonmusk #TRUMP

Lincoln countered by sending military officials to the court, where they declared the suspension of habeas corpus in D.C. Faced with military authority, the court relented.

During the Civil War, the D.C. court found itself at odds with the president when it ruled that habeas corpus could be issued against the Union army to return minors who had enlisted without parental consent. In response Lincoln cut off the judges salaries

Economists like @JustinWolfers will tell you that if $100B in tariffs are imposed, American consumers will pay $100B in higher prices. In fact, most models ASSUME that. The problem? It never happens. Just ask them to name one product where this has occurred. They can’t.
Justin Wolfers@JustinWolfers

There's an economic lesson here for non-economists: Higher tariffs will raise the prices you face. And there's a meta lesson for economists: Telling a story in more human terms can make the insights of our models more digestible.
