That would mean the person who actually wrote the song for the said artist is the greatest writer not the person who performs it. Yall are confusing performer with writer.
& if this said artist has wrote their own masterful work it’s very simple to point to the said work that shows great writing. Not a great song but great writing. Again because a good song doesn’t equal great writing. You can have a catchy song that has bad writing we’ve seen this countless times.
It’s very simple to distinguish if they are a great writer through storytelling, emotional resonance and rhythm. You know like if said artist told a story through a whole album not just a song and you can see it as a movie but what if you can also listen to the album in reverse & it tells a totally different story & it’s a whole different movie you watching. Now that would be an example of someone who is the greatest writer. I wonder if that’s ever happened before 🤔 DAMN.

A LOT of artists use ghost writers. Music is usually a very collaborative process. The artist you are speaking on has also been the writer for other artists on songs you probably aren’t even aware he wrote.
