Shadow of the Erdtree was amazing and Elden Ring is one of the great works of art of our time. Buttttt it isn't a standalone game, and you need to complete a substantial amount of the base game to even start the DLC. idk man just my 2c. I can understand the arguments both ways.

There should honestly probably be a separate category for DLC outside of Game of the Year. I think it'd be fairer to games that released this year and also to the DLC itself.
