As a frontline doctor in London - you really really need to take this seriously - it is bad - it is really bad - already - and it’s predicted to be worse by next weekend - too many people really don’t get it yet - stay indoors!! Seriously! #FlattenTheCurve #COVID19 @doctor_oxford

GP trainers are being asked to do the impossible—and it’s no longer something I can be part of. While the role can be rewarding, it often feels underappreciated. 🧵 1/10

Some argue that trainees seeing patients frees up time for trainers, but they overlook that supervision takes time. If done properly, especially with added teaching, it requires even more time. At best, it's a break-even situation. 6/10

Bring back the Family Doctor overnight @wesstreeting if funding was made available to GP practices Poll of 1000 GPs just 2/3 working the hours that they want Extrapolated to 35000 GPs 8000 willing to do 1-2 more sessions 2450 ~ 2-3 sessions 800 ~ 4-7 sessions 1750 out of work

Some people may not care that vast swathes of community NHS services are being outsourced to private equity (HCRG, formally Virgin, have a track record of just this locally) - but I remain fiercely opposed to core NHS services being privately delivered for shareholder profit.

@DrEilidhMaria The ICB who commission the service (ie the walk in centre itself), and the medical director of the Trust (or private company!) who provide the service

Something free and genuinely useful you could do this World Mental Health Day is to share this information. You never know who might desperately need to see it. #NoMindLeftBehind @MindCharity

The argument that “we need PAs due to a GP shortage” is a lie. The “NHS GP shortage” is deliberate & entirely manufactured 15036 doctors applied for 4096 GP training posts **10,940 doctors** were unsuccessful We have the doctors! NHSE are ensuring there are NO jobs for them!

#rcgpac #rcgpac24 Here's what I wanted to say to @wesstreeting, had he not been too cowardly to hear the anger and disdain in my voice as I said it:

#rcgpac #rcgpac24 The microphones have been removed from the auditorium & all questions have to be submitted through the conference app. @wesstreeting tells us "I always welcome challenge", but is apparently too afraid to hear the anger and upset in GPs' voices as we question him

Some see that the solution is for the RCP to transform and modernise. My analysis is that the RCP has followed a strategy of modernisation for the past decade. And that has been the root cause of its woes. Let's have a look at some key planks: - restructuring Council 3/

50 years with #T1D today. I tried to think of a way to sum it all up but couldn’t. So many changes over those years, forever grateful for the #CGM that has taught me so much. Excited for the extra tech when I finally get a chance ❤️

Wow. It’s 2024 and I’ve just had to crawl along the floor of this LOT Polish airline to get to the toilet during a flight back from Warsaw as “we don’t have onboard wheelchairs. It’s airline policy”. If you’re disabled and you can’t walk this is just discriminatory.

Will be watching @BBCPanorama tonight with some sadness but gratitude that this has finally been formally investigated. We warned of unsafe practice (eg v high dose HRT & HRT for those w breast ca) & were told by many (inc some w a high profile/influence) that we were the danger

GIRF. Get It Right First Time. Doesn't apply to patient contacts it seems. Patient seen by a non prescriber in a building full of Doctors/Prescribers. (A Hospital). Diagnosed with Otitis Media. (Ear infection). Told to call GP tomorrow for antibiotics. The mind boggles.

Obviously the correct decision, but the @rcgp do need to reflect on what got them to this point like the @RCPhysicians - reflect on previous 'leaders', COIs, complicity with GMC, NHSE and Government, and hubris by many...

If you haven’t diagnosed a patient, or treated them, taken a history or undertaken a physical examination in the last few years do not allow the media to describe you as a leading clinician and perhaps acknowledge you have limited credibility amongst practising clinicians
