To European eyes, American tipping 'culture' (and I use term loosely) continues to amaze. Wouldn't it be so much better if the coffee-shop owner simply paid his employees a living wage, reducing the pressure on customers to tip?

Amidst everything competing for your attention, spare a thought for young people. Huge numbers are trying - and failing - to find work. There are 561,000 unemployed people aged 18-24 (13.7%). For each of those 561,000, that's a very hard start to adult life. And it keeps rising.

We paired up with @Metro to investigate experiences of hospital care while living with type 1 diabetes (T1D). 80% of participants surveyed said they felt hospital care was insufficient, with people reporting incidents where they were not allowed to manage their own insulin or received incorrect guidance or dosage. It’s a historic day for workers in New York City. @helloDCWP has delivered a $38 million settlement for 15,000 Starbucks workers who had their rights violated. That’s the largest worker protection settlement in city history.
