@BiovisionAfrica strengthening agricultural value chains and market access for smallholder farmers. The visit highlighted both the incredible innovation among farmers and the urgent need for expanded agro-processing opportunities in Uganda’s agricultural sector. #OrganicAgriculture #FoodSecurity

#UnitedInHumanity As we continue to observe the month of May, dedicated to celebrating Red Cross Month, today our Branch in Entebbe organized a community service activity in Bugonga Village and at the landing site. We were honored to be joined by Uganda Civil Aviation Authority, Entebbe Municipal Council, K Hotels Entebbe, and our dedicated branch volunteers. Obstetric fistula remains one of the clearest signs of inequality in maternal healthcare. Every year, between 50,000 and 100,000 women and girls develop this preventable childbirth injury, while an estimated 500,000 continue to live with its devastating effects globally. In Uganda, limited access to timely and quality maternal healthcare continues to place many women and girls, especially those in underserved communities, at risk of obstetric fistula and other childbirth-related complications. Prolonged obstructed labour, child marriage, teenage pregnancy, poverty, and delays in accessing emergency obstetric care remain some of the leading causes. On this #InternationalDaytoEndObstetricFistula, we call for urgent investment in quality maternal healthcare, timely emergency obstetric services, and the protection of women and girls’ health and dignity. #EndFistula #MaternalHealth

A high-level Ministerial Meeting on cross-border coordination for the Ebola outbreak response is underway at Speke Resort Munyonyo, bringing together regional leaders and partners to strengthen collaboration, preparedness and response. The meeting is attended by Permanent Secretary Dr. @DianaAtwine, Africa CDC Director General Dr. @Dr_JeanKaseya, Ministers of Health from DRC and South Sudan, alongside partners working to develop a coordinated response strategy. Dr. Diana Atwine called for commitment, and transparency, emphasizing that “no one is safe until everyone is safe.” Dr. Jean Kaseya applauded H.E. @KagutaMuseveni for his swift leadership and Uganda’s rapid response efforts, while commending Dr. Atwine for steering the national response. He stressed that this outbreak response “will be led by Africa, for Africa, and by Africans.” The Minister of Health from DRC, Dr. Roger Samuel Kamba noted that outbreaks do not respect borders, highlighting the need for coordinated measures to protect communities. The Minister of Health from South Sudan, Hon. Luke Thompson appreciated the timely convening of the meeting, noting that regional strength lies in unity and readiness. He emphasized that community engagement and public trust remain central to an effective response. A joint communique will be developed at the end of the meeting. #MOHatWork | #FightEbolaUG26

Today, we joined the global community in commemorating the International Day for Biological Diversity under the theme “Acting Locally for Global Impact” at Tebe Grounds, Kapyego in Elgeyo Marakwet County. The event was presided over by His Excellency the Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki and hosted by Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen alongside CS Environment Deborah Barasa, with the participation of fellow Principal Secretaries including Gitonga Mugambi (Forestry), Salome Beacco (Correctional Services), Dr. Chris Kiptoo (National Treasury), Aurelia Rono (Parliamentary Affairs), Harry Kimtai (Mining), Mr. Joel Arumonyang (Public Works), Belio Kipsang (Immigration) development partners and communities. A key highlight of the day was the launch of the CHERISH Programme, a transformative initiative aimed at restoring and conserving the Cherangany Hills ecosystem, one of Kenya’s most important water towers and biodiversity landscapes. This marks a major milestone in the restoration and protection of the Cherangany Hills ecosystem, one of Kenya’s critical water towers and biodiversity hotspots. Through forest adoption and ecosystem restoration initiatives, we are strengthening climate resilience, conserving biodiversity and securing livelihoods for communities that depend on these ecosystems. The success of programmes such as CHERISH depends on strong community participation, community ownership and sustained partnerships among government, development partners, civil society and the private sector. Environmental conservation can only succeed when local communities are placed at the centre of action and empowered as custodians of our natural heritage. Happy Biodiversity Day! #BiodiversityDay #ActLocallyImpactGlobally #CHERISHProgramme

Clean water is not a privilege but rather a basic human right everyone deserves. So many underserved communities in Uganda still rely on unsafe water sources every single day, together we can change this reality. Join us to collaborate for lasting impact!
