🚨 Management of colorectal polyps: update and future directions 🚨 bit.ly/4qp0jEF ✏️ Key take home messages: 1. Accurate lesion assessment is KEY 2. Cold snare resection is preferred for SSLs regardless of size and adenomas <10mm 3. Piecemeal EMR remains standard of care for LNPCPs with margin thermal ablation and selective defect closure 4. Complex lesion / concerns? REFER With thanks to Dr Julia Louisa Gauci and Dr Michael J Bourke. @PhilSmithIsBack @OTavabie @dr_aditi_kumar @TrevorTabone @eathar_s @IrenePerezMD @KGananandan @zare_benjamin @medicalreg @dtleiberman @drkeithsiau @DrOmerAhmad @Dunnepdj @shraddha_gulati @CardiffGastro @DrBuHayee @poodocnisha @Sharm_Sub #Endoscopy #GIEndoscopy #Colonoscopy #Gastroscopy #EndoscopyTraining #EndoscopyNurse #EndoscopyUnit #AdvancedEndoscopy #TherapeuticEndoscopy #PolypDetection #ColorectalPolyps #AdenomaDetection #ADR #Polypectomy #ColdSnare #EMR #ESD #PostPolypectomy #ColorectalCancer #CRCPrevention

Percutaneous cholecystostomy should serve as a bridge to interval cholecystectomy in patients with contraindications to immediate surgery, specifically those with sepsis and acute cholecystitis, with IC ideally performed 8-13 weeks post-PC. ja.ma/45zCzoK

Proud of this paper: the first of its kind to address management of ACUTE femoral hernias in the modern era. There seems to be so much confusion about this. So if you’re an ACS surgeon or general surgeon, I hope this helps you! Check out the treatment algorithm we provided in the article and let me know your thoughts and how you would improve it. @GBarmparasMD @CedarsSinai @CedarsSinaiMed @DeptSurgeryCS @Trauma_CS #acs #oncall #acutecaresurgery #trauma @SESC_AmSurg journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.117…

📢'Closure time is not coffee time'☕️ 👉You've heard this before, but do we really stand by it in our daily practice?Do we do our best & take the time and effort to close the abdomen properly after a complex case, to avoid wound complications and SSI? Excellent session #WSES2O25

Adjuvant therapy in colon cancer has come a long way. FOLFOX and capecitabine remain the backbone, but a series of trials highlight how we can go beyond “chemo as usual” to improve both tolerability and efficacy: 🧬 ALASCCA – In stage II–III CRC with PI3K pathway mutations, daily aspirin (160 mg) cut recurrence risk by ~50% (HR 0.49). 🖐 D-TORCH – Topical diclofenac gel reduced grade ≥2 hand-foot syndrome from 15% → 3.8% at 12 weeks, keeping more patients on full-dose capecitabine. 💊 B12 – Methylcobalamin supplementation lowered the rate of clinically significant HFS (BMJ 2025), a low-cost and safe toxicity-mitigation strategy. 🏃 CHALLENGE – Structured exercise after adjuvant therapy lowered recurrence/new primary risk by 28% and death by 37% over long-term follow-up. These studies point to a bigger picture: adjuvant therapy isn’t just about getting through chemo. It’s about layering strategies that make treatment more tolerable while meaningfully boosting outcomes. What else should we be adding to the adjuvant colon cancer playbook (no more bolus 5-FU)? @TheGutOncLab @OncoAlert @OncBrothers
