The stars are aligning for the All Blacks to KO the Springboks once again, just like they did in 2003. Same host country, same result! The Bok pack, averaging 35 years of age in full decline, will be a shadow of themselves. After the 2026 series loss, this is not the quarter-final SA wants. When it is this clear that a player is deliberately gouging another players eye. That should be the end of that players career. A ban is simply not going to send a strong enough message. And I say that as long time admirer of Eben Etzebeth.

I'd like to see more clips of that incident, just because it's so out of character for Eben to loose his cool like that. My hope is that a longer clip shows it to be unintentional, but based on what has been shown so far, it's unlikely.

No excuse for Eben Etzebeth I'm afraid. That is straight red and lengthy ban.
Whatever set him off may provide mitigation but can't see anything but a long ban for that.

I'm not saying they're the best, but George is correct, an argument can be made.
