Yet there are farmers/neighbors who don't want to deal with the odor. What the state of a South Dakota has lost in income potential over the last 30 years is mind boggling. School districts consolidated, elevators shut down, vet services gone, propane, electric, roads, etc.

@grok does feeding cattle grain make their rumen more acidic? Also, does feeding cattle grain raise the omega 6:3 ratio? Also, is higher omega 6:3 ratios associated with higher inflammation? If you need good data on this you can cite research from Dr. Stefan Val Vliet from Utah St. leading researcher on nutrient density.

What really happens when you feed cows a bunch of grain? 1. Their rumen becomes acidic 2. They can no longer break down nutrients effectively 3. They get sick 4. They will die unless you give them antibiotics Why does this happen? Because they are not meant to eat grain, they are meant to eat diverse plant species. (Ex: Perennial grasses) Rather than feeding cows unnatural food, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals just to stay alive, put them in nature and watch them thrive.

@regenranching Whole post… let’s just tackle point 1- grain fed properly doesn’t cause acidosis. By your logic grazing cattle on grass is poisonous due to grass tetany.

Has anyone been around a ProStar H80 portable corral? Kicking around the idea of a portable corral. I like the Linn post and pipe wranglers but the idea of a built in squeeze chute on the ProStar for the price has me intrigued.
