Two Books I want to read before the year ends and they are both free. Who wants to read with me? We might just start a Global Health Interest Group 😄

This podcast episode is worth a listen: Two AI 'people' having a chat about @thewrittenro's Rethinking Global Health & my The Foreign Gaze youtu.be/Pk0GqnDaD9M?si… Its cheery status quo politics at odds with the vibe of both books, it feels like a warning RE AI peer/book review.

@DrJakpa @Collinzosky My study partner and I keep reminding ourselves that it's better to have a license and not need it, than to need a license and not have it and of course we're talking about GMC Licence. We're studying hard 💪 💪

@DrIkejioforP @lalala3080 If Nigeria had a board exam like the US, wait a minute, The US is too far; like Tanzania, this wouldn't be a question. As a student and practitioner of medical education, I'll tell you there are benchmarks every University has to meet before they graduate any Doctor. So, YES

You’ve tried OAU Medicine thrice without getting pricked and this year, you finally changed from OAU but it’s to UI Medicine. A lot of people really need a guardian before obtaining a JAMB form. MB;BS is the same in every school. Stop wasting time on highlyyy competitive schools.

@Adejibo @DrA_001 Yeah, stories are really important in any field of medicine. It's the ground work that is laid for future changes. It's why I love Narrative Medicine.

@justyeshua @GrayMatterexe Man, it was incredible! Hall is a walking encyclopedia of Physiology. The thing I appreciate the most was the department’s emphasis on writing and presenting information. I was presenting at EB as a 1st year. “If you can’t explain it in a few sentences, you don’t know it!”😂

USA doesn't want us. UK doesn't want us. Canada doesn't want us. Ireland doesn't want us. UAE doesn't want us. Guess what? South Africa doesn't want us either. And neither does Ghana, Botswana or Gambia. Nigeria has to work or else most of us are Fu©k£d.

@justyeshua @GrayMatterexe Yep. Dr. Hall took what Dr. Guyton started and ran with it. I need to visit him before he retires. I think June 2026 is his last month as Chair.
Sean Abram, PhD, MPH@FNULNU1

I am a #Guytonian. I was fortunate to train in the department. He used to teach the last few #MedicalPhysiology lectures. Once/year, he had lunch with the #PhD students. His story & stories were amazing. I ended up publishing (1st author) a simulation paper. He was SHARP‼️

Peter Obi was executive governor of Anambra state for 8 years, excelling in areas of health, security, education, infrastructure, economy, agriculture, etc Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso was governor of Kano state, Nigeria's Centre of Commerce, for 8 years, excelling in areas of education, health, security, agriculture, economy, etc Two men who have held executive power and never abused it. Two men who used the power God gave them for good. We don't want a green horn who has zero experience of executive power and whose actions when wielding executive power we can not predict. With Obi & Kwankwaso, Nigeria will surely be OK! 👍🏾

𝐌𝐲 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞. 𝐈𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐨 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐦𝐲 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝. 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐠𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞. Don't open a blank document and try to write from the title to the conclusion. That is usually painful. Here is a better way to get started on your first paper ① Choose the journal early ↳ The journal shapes the audience, structure, word count, and style. ↳ Do not write the full paper first and search for a journal later. ② Settle authorship early ↳ Who contributed? ↳ Who qualifies as an author? ↳ Who should be acknowledged? ↳ Resolve this before the writing becomes political. ③ Start with methods and results ↳ These sections are closest to what you actually did. ↳ They are often easier to write than the introduction or discussion. ④ Write the introduction as a problem ↳ The reader should quickly understand: → what is known → What is missing → What question does your study answer ⑤ Keep the results clean ↳ Present the findings clearly. ↳ Do not turn the results section into a discussion. ⑥ Use the discussion to explain the meaning ↳ This is where you answer: → Did the study answer the question? → How does it compare with previous work? → What are the implications? → What are the limitations? ⑦ Write the abstract last ↳ More people will read your abstract than the full paper. ↳ Do not treat it as a minor detail. —- Your first paper will probably feel harder than it should. That is normal. You are learning how to think, organize, defend, and communicate like a scholar. The goal is to make your work difficult to misunderstand. Start with the question. Build the structure. Respect the reader. Then write the first draft. Which part of writing your first paper feels hardest: starting, structuring, or submitting?
