Choked eating dinner, blockage cleared but fractured my collar bone.

Met Dan from Perth, Australia at a professional industry event back in December in Miami. We instantly hit it off, kept in touch over the last few months, and reconnected in Sydney at another event last week. After our last pre-trip call, we realized we’re both ham radio operators. Dan is VK6EMC. Had an awesome time in Sydney talking shop, swapping radio stories, and building an even stronger connection. Proof that the world isn’t always as big as it seems.

We lucked out and escaped to sunny Miami just before the big storm hit—trading snow boots for flip-flops and enjoying a few glorious days in the warmth. Meanwhile, back home, six inches of snow turned into a solid sheet of ice. Two days ago, our cameras pinged: someone was in the driveway. Turns out it was our incredible friend who knew we were away. He spent hours over two freezing days chipping away at the thick ice and shoveling a clear path down our long driveway so we could safely get to our house we got home late last night. No fanfare, no asking for anything—just pure, thoughtful kindness when we needed it most. Friends like this are the real sunshine on the coldest days.

2026 is off to a good start! At least I'm not the superstitious type... 😅

Question for those doing SAT's, any good suggestions for pre-amps for 70cm? My 2m is pretty good but the 70cm has about 4 - 5db loss as my lmr240 is 65ft to the IC9700.
