@NCState Testing that was done with the blowers off, which results in lower levels of the contaminant. More interested in what the levels are with the blowers on, which is how people normally would experience the exposure.

@factswithforo @GoogleForEdu I did this as True or False with frequent parent concerns/questions about the course. It always went over well and it also gave parents the relevant information.

@GoogleForEdu Don't go over your syllabus - they can read. Instead play a quick game related to your course content. I do a version of "Fact or Crap?" They just want to get to know you a little bit, so keep it light-hearted!

@GoogleForEdu Make it fun/be cheerful! Think about what a parent needs to hear about your class and streamline your presentation to that information. Have a handout with the highlights of the information and your contact info (even a half-sheet would be great!).

@Sakiera_Hudson @reprofan I had a student like this. I asked her to use her phone to dictate her argument first and then convert it to a word doc. This then served as her really rough first draft.

@reprofan Often its "when you talk, I get it, but when you write, I don't". I assume more knowledge than the reader had, and things aren't organized coherently. The pieces are there but I'm not logically building the argument for people. Somehow when I speak, I naturally build it. I dunno!

Does anyone have tips on how to increase the clarity of your writing (that doesn’t require friends to read a gazillion drafts)? That’s my biggest rationale in rejections, that I’m not clear. The ideas are there but they are not translating. I truly want to be a better writer!

@lkfazio @Sakiera_Hudson This is a great practice! I reverse outline but with using only the first sentence of each paragraph. This makes sure that the topic sentences are crystal clear. Other tips: Use short sentences. Write short paragraphs.
