@KarinaYaniv Wow. It has never occurred to me to contact conference organizers to ask to be invited or that other ppl do this! Thank you for opening my eyes and for lifting up women!
English

A few reflections for Women's Day. I'm honored to be chairing the very prestigious #GRC_Angiogenesis2025, one of the best conferences in the field of vascular biology. As such, I've received several requests for short oral presentations over the past few months 1/n

Did you know that leftover samples from surgeries on our kids (like Cerebral Spinal Fluid) are most often tossed in the trash? They could hold the key to rare disease breakthroughs. Why aren’t more medical institutions making it a priority to save these valuable resources? What’s stopping this game-changing opportunity?
English

@OnceUponAGene @combined_brain Staff in the OR have their time accounted for. So need to make it as easy as possible for them to help. (Person holding open tube waiting to collect sample, which often needs some additional processing that requires time, tubes, equipment, etc).
English

@OnceUponAGene @combined_brain Where are the boxes, who fills them with ice, where is the ice, how long does it take to t walk to get the ice, who pays for the ice, who pays for the shipping?
English

@OnceUponAGene I offer this not as justification, but items that need cost consideration
English

@OnceUponAGene 💰, lack of researcher involvement, alters workflow. Storing samples costs $ (personnel, tubes, freezer space, database support/management, etc).

Not sure how much I'll post here with so many leaving and content going wild, but I believe in keeping debate alive. Had an amazing week at #ICAR2024 in London with brilliant clinicians & scientists working together to find therapies for rare ataxias. Let’s not lose hope!
