The richest countries in the world are not the ones who depends on their mineral resources, most Nigerians don't know that Canada produces 4x the oil Nigeria produces daily. Hello everyone, this Vanguard report mentions that this issue primarily affects residents of Umuahia. Please note that Umuahia and environs are still under Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC), which used to serve the entirety of Abia, Anambra, Imo, Enugu, and Ebonyi until Aba and 8 other LGAs were taken away from them and put under Geometric. Gov. Alex Otti has successfully negotiated to take away Umuahia and the remaining LGAs so that they can equally be connected with the rest of Abia already in the Geometric Network while expanding the generating capacity of GPal and Aba Power. Nobody in Aba and the 8 other LGAs currently enjoying stable power is complaining about the cost because there’s been aggressive mass metering. You pay for what you consume. The state is currently in the process of paying off EEDC so that the entire state will be taken off the National grid (which EEDC is part of) that bills so much while providing little power. Fifth columnists, please take note.

POWER BOOST: The president moves. President Bola Tinubu has approved the payment plan to finally settle the outstanding debts under the Presidential Power Sector Financial Reforms Programme. The debt repayment plan followed the final review of the legacy debts that have beset the power sector for more than a decade. The long-standing debts accumulated between February 2015 and March 2025. Following verification, ₦3.3 trillion has been agreed as a full and final settlement, ensuring a fair and transparent resolution. Implementation has begun, with 15 power plants signing settlement agreements totalling ₦2.3 trillion. The Federal Government has already raised ₦501 billion to fund these payments. Out of the amount, N223 billion has been disbursed, with further payments underway. What this means for Nigerians: With payments reaching the power value chain, generation will be more stable. With power plants supported, electricity reliability will improve.
