Hear me out, but what if the election results were announced in a Eurovision style? "Good evening Clive and Laura! Thank you for a wonderful show! The parliamentary seat for the constituency of _______ goes to..." 😂

This is a government comment on the reduction in asylum support from £1.37 to £1.27 a day. To cover: Toiletries Medication Bus fares Mobile phone Clothes How do you ‘budget appropriately’ on £1.27 a day? Typically people will spend years living on this. It’s barbaric.

On 17 December, Israeli forces took control of Al Awda hospital, after besieging it for 12 days. Males over 16 years old were taken out of the hospital, stripped, bound and interrogated – six MSF staff were among them...

The gavel has come down on #COP28 and we are heartbroken at the final outcome. The mood is somber in #dubai The hope going into this COP is that a “fossil fuel phase out” was genuinely on the table to keep 1.5 alive…. (1/6)

So much anger at the new COP28 draft text. None more so than from Marshall Islands: “[We] did not come here to sign our death warrant. We came here to fight for 1.5C and for the only way to achieve that: a fossil fuel phase-out…We will not go silently to our watery graves."

Youth are watching 👀 Tonight we stood side by side with youth activists from around the world to send a clear message to countries to hold the line. Deliver on the promise of AT LEAST a “fossil fuel phase out” #COP28UAE
Collin Rees@collinrees

Activists are lining the path to the negotiating rooms at #COP28 as talks stretch into the night. The latest draft text is wholly unacceptable in failing to #EndFossilFuels. We’re calling on our leaders to #HoldTheLine + push for the fossil fuel phaseout we deserve.

“The advice under a Conservative government used to be “don’t get sick, don’t get old” but even that no longer feels sufficient. The best strategy to live in Britain now is to simply have the good luck to never need anything.” My col. in today’s paper. theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

Conservatives@Conservatives

As @RishiSunak heads to #COP28, it’s worth remembering that the UK is already a world leader in reducing emissions. Unlike Labour, Conservatives will ensure the UK reaches Net Zero by 2050 without imposing unnecessary and heavy-handed measures on the British people.

Housebound people told to get a job. Benefit sanctions increased. Mandatory work placements. The Tories have launched a new assault on benefit claimants - and are doing it all for show. My col. in today’s @guardian theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

Today’s #AutumnStatement won’t help disabled people with the cost-of-living crisis. Instead, it painted disabled people as scroungers. We won’t stand for it. Join our call for an equal future 👉 brnw.ch/21wEGhp

Let's talk about duty. Disabled people do not have a duty to work unsuitable jobs. Let's get that clear. The government *does* have a duty to not dehumanise the million disabled people who want to work but are denied the chance. It’s a duty the government is failing on 🧵 1/7

5 years ago Milton Keynes was dubbed ‘tent city’ by the media. Today, no one needs to sleep rough on our streets. How did we do it? A thread by the Cabinet Member responsible 👇

This is an extremely concerning forecast from our friends @BritishRedCross. Giving people 7 days to find a home and a job or be thrust into homelessness shows there is no limit to this government’s hostility towards people. theguardian.com/world/2023/oct…
