This account is pivoting - JPEGs to liquids. I’ll be sharing more about a personal passion of mine: exploring alcoholic drinks: 🍺 Craft beers 🍷 Wines 🥃 Baijiu ("白酒") A bit of a shift from the Web3 content that I used to react to Backstory ↓

Double whammy tonight. I spoke to my good friend and EXCELLENT winemaker Stephane Ogier recently. I told him “Chateauneuf de Pape hasn’t convinced me yet. The wines are too big for my taste.” He told me to try Clos du Mont Olivet, so I picked up the 2023. This bottle was beautiful, nothing like your “typical” CDP. Really bright and linear, chiseled black and red fruit from grenache and Mourvèdre with the classic Rhône intense spice with incredible acid driven texture. The pairing with meat 🥩 was perfect as any Rhône fan knows. Topped it off with some Champagne.

@ASvanevik I hope for another solution other than throwing money at the problem I dont think money is rhe issue. The unpredictability and inconvenience of kids seem more likely imo

Moving from #beer 🍺 back to #wine 🍷 I used to rely heavily on wine ratings — @JamesSuckling, @Wine_Advocate, @VinousMedia, @JancisRobinson 90+ = good 95+/18+ = must try 100/19+ = mind-blowing I’ve had a 100-point wine before — Cheval des Andes 2017 — and it didn’t quite justify the hype for me But I still think they’re useful — especially when you’re starting out What matters more is figuring out which ratings you actually agree with Not all critics have the same palate — and not all of them align with yours Completely changes how you read a “90+” (also how you start spotting wines that are actually a steal — more on that another time) Curious — do you follow specific critics, or just the score?

Moving from #baijiu 🥃 back to #beer 🍺 I used to think beer was just… beer cold, fizzy, all roughly the same I was completely wrong I started with #Lager - light, clean, easy I went deep into the heavier stuff early on - milk/coffee stouts, DIPAs, TIPAs, even QIPAs big flavours, high ABV - sometimes a bit too much These days, I find myself reaching for simpler styles - clean #IPAs, hazy #IPAs Sours… still a hit or miss for me (sometimes still taste like wetsocks) Funny how your preferences shift without you realising Curious — did you go heavier, or eventually come back to simpler?

Five Years of Bored Ape Yacht Club A note to The Best Club on the Internet, Five years is a long time on the internet. It’s long enough to understand what makes something different, and to recognize when it becomes part of people’s lives in a real way. The Bored Ape Yacht Club has always been more than something you scroll past. It’s something people step into, build with, and carry with them. That’s what makes this a Club. Like @mfigge said recently, the Club should live in your world, not just your timeline. That's where we're headed. Here's what that looks like right now. We recently rolled out the new bayc.com - a fresh look, member profiles and directory, an updated store.bayc.com, and more coming soon. It’s a step toward making the Club feel more tangible, more connected, and easier to immerse in. IRL is the Alpha Over the last few weeks, Apes have been mobilizing across the globe through regional meetups, bringing local chapters together in ways that actually matter. We spent 4/20 weekend with Snoop and Dr. Bombay, giving a group of Apes a member-only moment you can’t replicate online. These moments pull people closer together, create and strengthen real bonds, and push the energy of the Club forward. We say Bored Ape, You say Yacht Club We’ve also been thinking about what it actually means to be a Yacht Club - not just the name, but the feeling behind it. That’s starting to take shape. From here on out, you’ll see it show up more clearly in our apparel, our collaborations, and an aesthetic that finally does the Yacht Club name justice. Five years in, and we’re not slowing down. There’s more to share, but for now… thanks for being an Ape. Thanks for being in the Club.

Well, this is.... not great. Very much heavy raisin flavors in an off-putting way. Was really looking forward to it. Going to re-bottle and try again tomorrow based on a Cellar Tracker note. Such is life...

Moving from #wine 🍷 back to #baijiu(#白酒)🥃 One thing that stands out immediately — it’s strong. Very strong Most baijiu sits around 50–60% ABV (compared to wine ~12–15%, #beer ~4–6%) Why so high? It comes down to production — repeatedly fermented and distilled — adding layers of flavour and concentrating the alcohol For example, #Moutai (#茅台) goes through 8 fermentations and 7 distillations (part of Moutai's "12,987" - something I'll cover in another post) As a result, it’s typically served in small cups — short pours, meant to be sipped Curious — would you try something at this ABV, or is it an immediate "no" for you?

Moving from #beer 🍺 back to #wine 🍷 I've noticed my preferences change over time From bigger, bolder wines - cab savs, shiraz to lighter, more balanced ones - pinots One memorable Pinot Noir came unexpectedly from the UK - Danbury Ridge 2021 Perfumey nose with flowers sandalwood and a tasty palate of pepper, red fruit Never expected the UK to produce wines like this Curious — any other UK wines to recommend?

Moving from #baijiu 🥃 back to #beer 🍺 Previously I mentioned paying $20+ for a craft beer in #Singapore With so many styles out there (#IPAs, #sours, #stouts), the experience can be very different from your usual #lager but the price difference is real Interested to hear if you would pay this price for a beer and why? (image of my fav craft beer joint but from pre-COVID - any guesses where?)

From #wine🍷back to #baijiu(#白酒)🥃 There are many baijiu flavours but 4 are considered the main ones↓ Sauce aroma (酱香型) Roasted, savoury notes, like soy sauce or fermented beans; e.g. 茅台 Strong aroma (浓香型) Ripe fruit, slightly sweet, floral; e.g. 五粮液、国窖1573 Light aroma (清香型) Fresh, dry, with a light grain note; e.g. 汾酒 (see image) Rice aroma (米香型) Soft rice, slightly sweet — almost like rice wine, sake; e.g. 三花酒 Each has its own character and flavour profile — very different ways of experiencing baijiu Which of these sounds closest to something you’d try?

@planert41 I have 3 daughters - pre schooler to early teens. What i found helpful was to first identify what brings me flow and joy and weave that into the schedule. Admittedly, Im lucky though cuz things that bring me joy can be done at home or near home but reflecting is a gd start

Dads with young kids Is it normal to just feel tired and burnt out all the time? It’s like you don’t even really get the weekend to recover because it’s all just kid stuff the moment you wake up Arguably the only personal time you have is when they nap (and you’re already dead tired by that time) or the hour after they go to bed but before you pass out Just trying to figure out if I’m doing something wrong

Tricky but for look for the regional appellations (Bourgogne AOC), the Côte Chalonnaise (Mercurey, Rully) for reds and the Mâconnais for whites. Fixin is also a good place to hunt for more affordable wines. Drouhin's Cote de Beaune Villages is widely available and pretty darn good. Here's a nice Nuits St Georges that I think is great... available at Total Wines.

Why they matter: Tannins — give wine structure and longevity; without it, can feel flat Acidity — keeps it fresh and alive; without it, can feel dull or heavy Body — shapes overall experience; light and easy vs rich and full

Moving from #beer 🍺 back to #wine 🍷 I used to hear terms like #tannins, #acidity, #body — and had no idea what they actually meant Took me a while, but this is the simplest way I think about them now ↓
