Connie Githinji, a 22-year-old university student from Murang’a, was allegedly killed after being pushed from the balcony of a sixth-floor Airbnb apartment in Kileleshwa, Nairobi. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday during an argument between Githinji and 33-year-old Tony Odhiambo, a Luo man. The two had checked into the apartment at approximately 4:17 am. CCTV footage captured the room door opening shortly after their entry, followed by signs of a possible struggle inside the unit. A security guard briefly entered the room at around 4:34 am before leaving. Githinji’s body was later discovered at the scene, and police arrived at approximately 6:19 am, taking Odhiambo into custody. Odhiambo told investigators that Connie jumped from the window after the argument. However, the sequence of events shown on CCTV has raised significant questions among both investigators and the public regarding whether the death was a suicide or the result of foul play. Odhiambo was arraigned in court and remanded for 10 days to allow for further investigations. He is also wanted in a separate rape case reported in Kilimani and is reportedly known for leasing properties from Athi River to Thika Road, where he allegedly commits crimes with accomplices. He had previously skipped court after being granted bond in an offence committed in September 2025.
