Closed out the last of my $CAR short for a 1.3 Miata Winner! (Blast from the past)
It was an awful ride & I entered a week too early.
But in the end, the price went exactly where I expected to go.
When I called a short on it last year, it was at ~190ish.

Added today. Lots of these names die once the market starts 'selling calls'. Premiums are RICH. The pop to $300 should be concerning to shorts. The drop to $260 should also be concerning to longs. On any drop of 'real peace', think market still will moon. SPY up 8% off lows.

I don’t actually think most investors realise how much AI usage is exploding. It’s starting to hit that early exponential part of the curve.
Every top model has been massively nerfed compared to a month ago simply because there’s just not enough compute for all the new demand.

Reality of how bad the hard data is continues to outpace the grind lower in indexes.
Pinning this to the top of my profile as a reminder to myself. When I have tried to trade something other than this mental framework, I have kicked myself for not sticking to it.

Descending the wall of hope™️ In a way this post was prescient. It marked the bottom of the November dip and markets have gone precisely nowhere for the last 3 months. It feels like markets should be much lower with Oil up 35% in a week, credit spreads blowing out, disaster jobs report, and the VIX at 30. But retail dip buyers are relentless while professionals remain over hedged making a crash less likely. Strong possibility this dynamic continues with markets grinding lower toward a much lower fair value rather than repricing all at once as they have in the past. This is the ultimate pain trade - retail bleeds out death by a thousand dip buys rather than a margin call washout while hedgers bleed premium on high IVs and high skew on the obvious and correct assessment that markets should be lower yet fail to price it quickly enough to monetize. Stock pickers are having a heyday under the surface and my preferred hedge of at the money $SPX put spreads continue to print. My plan is to patiently sell rips and take profits on dips with staggered at the money $SPX put spread expirations.

The iranians plan to control the strait is quite simple :
1/ Force the ships to transit between Qeshm and Larak for visual inspection.
2/ Mine the main transit lanes, given the shallow waters this also deters submarines.
3/ Shoot anything elsewhere that moves from the three sides of the Iranian shoreline directly overlooking the strait

At the risk of sounding repetitive, escorting ships barely worked when convoys speedran the Atlantic crossing against U-boots during WW2.
It does not work well when you are passing less than 20 km from the mountaineous coastline where you adversary is entranched and has camouflaged drones.
This is Afghanistan on steroids, with the drone threat on top and you are moving highly inflamable cargo.
Also $20b of insurance capacity is nowhere near enough and won't deter the drones, quite the contrary.

Covered the ITM calls on this $VSCO short...only because earnings this week.
One of our greats alerted me that Asian sales likely had a big uptick this quarter due to some campaign.
I'd rather sell some OTM call spreads on earnings & let the dust settle.
