everything was stylistically so much better in the 90s - early 2000s. minimalism has ruined experiences.

🎢 Very sad news just announced, that the historic Scenic Railway timber rollercoaster at @DreamlandMarg is to permanently close. Built 1919-20, the Grade II* listed ride is the oldest surviving roller coaster in Britain. It is of international importance as the second oldest in Europe, and amongst the five oldest in the world of this prominent twentieth century entertainment structure. It has been restored after major fires in 1949, 1957 and 2008 (by @Hollawaystudio), but has been closed since August 2024, when a fault on a carriage ripped out wood planks from the tracks. A Dreamland spokesperson said: “The Scenic Railway has completed its journey as a rollercoaster and will now take well-earned retirement from operation as a ride." A call-out has now been issued to help 'reimagine' the ride: "This is not the end but a new beginning. We are committed to developing a new long-term vision that will showcase this remarkable structure...so it can continue to be enjoyed by future generations in a fresh and meaningful way. If you are a creative thinker with a practical approach, or a dreamer with a thoughtful and achievable vision, we would love to hear from you. Your ideas will help shape what comes next for this Margate icon."

A former veteran Bethesda developer has said the studio may end up with “hateful comments” even if The Elder Scrolls 6 ends up just being as good as Skyrim. bit.ly/45bA1x7

@ClarkeMicah Do you have memories of the station in York? I had a stroll through there a while ago, before a trip to Scarborough, and found it so timeless &filled with light The arches are so carefully curved to fit the railway. Compare it to Birmingham N street, which is a dark boxed dump
