William Ruto: President Museveni called me and said he wanted to buy 50 shares in the Kenyan pipeline and did not mind the price, President Museveni, Just as you invested in the pipeline, Kenya will invest in your refinery and in the shared future of our resources.

Comrades, there is a clear difference between fuel availability and fuel price. Globally, most countries are facing fuel price increases. Many at astronomical rates. However very few like Uganda have continued to maintain stable prices and have enough stock in country with more stock on the way. At @UNOC_UG we are committed to sharing more details as we monitor the situation.

It is 27 years since I first met this man, JK @Joelkibazo that would later become a boss, mentor, friend and family. The year was 1999. I was a young finalist journalism student @Makerere university & campus correspondent for @DailyMonitor seconded for skills training at British Council in Dar ESalam, Tanzania. Together with @pmwesige , Felix Osike, @LoyNabeta and David Kaiza from Uganda, we joined other journalists from the TZ and Kenya, at the time the only countries making East Africa. It was here in Dar, that we found Joel Kibazo, then a writer with, the highly regarded London based Financial Times @FT, as the training expert flown in by the Commonwealth Press Union. The theme of the training was "The Role of Journalism in Combating Corruption. The training was organised to coincide with the resumption of the East African Community @jumuiya in Arusha. From that moment, we struck a code, that when 7 years later, I joined the Commonwealth Secretariat in London as a Communications Officer, I found Joel, then Director of Communications and Spokesperson as my boss, getting a chance to drink from his wisdom, an opportunity that introduced to global politics, communications and public relations. In three months of my joining the Commonwealth, in September 2006, he assigned to observe elections in The Gambia, that small west African country, surrounded by Senegal and known for growing groundnuts, and white beaches. That assignment would be a precursor to many more election observer missions to Kenya in 2007, Ghana in 2008, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Malawi, Tanzania, Lesotho, South Africa and Maldives. All the while, Joel guided on how to deal and handle media, since my task on such observer missions was to support and advise the teams on PR issues. Everytime JK is in Uganda, I make it a point to catch up for coffee, to compare notes and to learn from his reservoir of wisdom.

This is how easy it will be to vote: 1. You can vote with your National ID and voter slip. 2. The Biometric Voter Verification Kit will verify your identity even without your voter slip or National ID( the beauty of technology). 3. You must be registered as a voter at your polling station. 4. Polling assistants will be on hand to help. 5. This electoral exercise is an important event and security is paramount for the voters, polling officials and materials. #UgandaDecides2026

Today, we celebrate 10 years of the Uganda National Oil Company (@UNOC_UG), a decade of strategic leadership in unlocking value from Uganda’s petroleum resources. Over the years, UNOC has demonstrated professionalism, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to ensuring that Ugandans fully benefit from our oil and gas sector. As we move toward First Oil, I applaud UNOC’s role in advancing the Tilenga, Kingfisher, @EACOP_, Kabaale Industrial Park, and national storage infrastructure projects. Their work is central to our ambition of building a competitive, transparent, and sustainable energy sector for Uganda. Allow me to thank His Excellency, President @KagutaMuseveni. His clarity of purpose has ensured that Uganda’s natural resources are developed responsibly, commercially, and for the benefit of all Ugandans. The president’s consistent guidance and strategic leadership planted the seed that has grown into the UNOC we celebrate today. I also appreciate the support of Cabinet colleagues, @Parliament_Ug, and our Shareholders in steering this sector in the right direction. I extend my sincere appreciation to the Board, Management, and staff of UNOC, both past and present, especially @CEO_UNOC who have carried this mandate with dedication. Congratulations to UNOC on this important milestone. I look forward to the next decade of growth, value addition, and national transformation.

Quality Chemical Industries Limited - Qcil
“What began in Katwe as a dream among six friends has become a lifeline for millions,” says @Emmanuel_Rotary , Co-founder and Chairman of Quality Chemical Industries Limited (Qcil). From losing two sisters to HIV/AIDS to leading Uganda’s first world-class pharmaceutical plant, his mission has always been deeply personal: to ensure no African life is lost for lack of access to affordable, quality medicine. Two decades later, Qcil stands as a symbol of African innovation, producing WHO-prequalified medicines for HIV/AIDS, malaria, and other diseases, and expanding into new treatments for tuberculosis, sickle cell disease, hypertension, and diabetes. Driven by purpose and guided by the belief that Africa can and must build its own healthcare future, Katongole’s vision continues to inspire a continent. #Qcilat20Years #LifeAfterWell #KeepingAfricaAlive

Uganda made a powerful case for Oil and Gas investment at #AEW2025in Cape Town. From government leaders to private sector voices, one thing stood out. Uganda is ready, stable and strategically positioned for growth. Highlights included: • Government's commitment to de-risking investment through strong policy and infrastructure. • Insights on how Uganda's Refinery Project is driven by an innovative funding model where government and private investors share the costs and benefits • UNOC’s upstream journey and how we are advancing exploration and national capacity. • Reiteration from the private sector on their confidence in Uganda’s stability, incentives, and long term returns. With rising petroleum demand, strategic projects underway, and a welcoming investment climate, Uganda is proving itself as Africa’s preferred destination for oil and gas.

UNOC and @VivoEnergyUg have signed a milestone agreement to facilitate the development, storage and distribution of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from the Tilenga and Kingfisher oil projects. The signing ceremony held at the UNOC’s head office in Kampala; aims to increase the adoption of LPG adoption in Uganda reducing reliance on biomass fuels and promoting cleaner cooking solutions. Uganda’s annual LPG consumption stands at approximately 25,000 tonnes, with a per capita usage of just 1.2 kilograms. #UNOCAt10
