@davisjarrafooty I think we start having some kind of metric around efficiency ie if they make 10 calls a qrt and get 1 or 2 wrong they are going at 80% then see if they are as bad as ppl think? We bang on about all these players being so good with the ball yet only going at 60-70%

I think part of the reason fans get so upset with umpiring at the AFL is there is a lack of public accountability. I’m sure they get harshly reviewed/dropped etc, but because none of their decisions are scrutinised or questioned to the umpire publicly, fans see no ‘punishment’ for poor decisions and almost assume as if there is no action taken by the league. If they just allowed a pool reporter for every match like they do overseas, I think you’d fix a huge amount of the public backlash. #AFL
