@jverratti2 @Great_Scorpus @omaakatugba I love this comment. I hope people do not dwell on negatives cos it’s very loud.

@Great_Scorpus @omaakatugba Marriage has no manual. You can make your own to work if you want to.

I need all career + business women to assemble and flex what your craft has done for you before we lose all the young girls to the ‘soft life+no career+find a provider’ mentality😭

Yesterday at the The University of Texas at Austin PhD graduation ceremony, I had the privilege of hooding three of my newly graduated doctoral students:
1. Dr. Ahmed Merzoug
2. Dr. Nataly Chacón Buitrago
3. Dr. Elnara Rustamzade
They were exceptional PhD students who completed outstanding dissertations and have now stepped into exciting roles in industry.
It was especially meaningful to meet their parents and tell them how grateful I am to have worked with their children. Moments like this are exactly why I became a professor.
Stoked! 🎓🤘

AMVCA is not a shenanigan event and she is not outgrowing it
No actor in African today is bigger than AMVCA
She has her reason of not attending and that’s fine
And whether she attend or not, the standard of AMVCA still remains
AMVCA is not HEADIES. The award show was not formed to be worshiping ANYBODY, it’s an award that recognizes and celebrates every filmmaker, every creator and producer out there
You don’t call an award show that has people like Joke Silva, Sola Sobowale, Kanayo O Kanayo, Odunlade and Femi in attendance a “Shenanigan show” just because one person didn’t go
Her absence was not felt and I don’t think her absence will ever be felt even if she never attend ever again
There are many stars in Nigerians and there are many stars that will still break through
One just broke the 15million views few days ago
You can see how she was happy to receive her trailblazer award, Yeah that’s how big AMVCA means to all of them. Moments like that are the reason why AMVCA was formed
We will not allow the award to be watered down just because one person refused to attend 😊
Agbeks😍@agbeks__
Funke Akindele is just living in her own bubbles mehn😍😍, ignoring AMVCA . Love it for her please. Actually a lot of people are definitely outgrowing the whole shenanigans that come with it. I’m definitely sure she would have slayed if she was attending. #AMVCA12 #AMVCA

It still feels surreal saying this…
On April 17, 2026, I was formally elevated to the rank of Professor of Medicine by the Governing Council of Pamo University of Medical Sciences.
What a moment.
This journey has been years in the making filled with research, teaching, long nights, collaborations across borders, community work, and an unwavering belief in better health systems for all.
I am deeply grateful to the distinguished academic leaders who saw my work, assessed it, and deemed me worthy:
Emeritus Professor Francis Chinedu Akpuaka
Emeritus Professor Musa Muhammed Borodo
Professor Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie
Thank you for your time, your rigour, and your belief.
To my mentors, colleagues, students, patients, and the communities I serve this is our win.
To my husband, my children, and family, your love and support carry me through every season.
And to my PUMS family, this new chapter of service means so much.
This isn’t the destination.
It’s a deeper call to serve, to teach, and to build.
Excellence for the Good of All.
