Is it just me or do i find killing the crocodile unnecessary?
Anish Moonka@anishmoonka

Police pulled a crocodile out of a South African river last week and cut it open. Inside: a man's ring, his remains, and six other pairs of shoes that didn't belong to him. The man was Gabriel Batista, 59. He ran a small hotel and bar in eastern South Africa, near the Komati River. On April 27, he tried to drive across a bridge that had flooded over. His truck got stuck. He was swept downstream and never seen alive again. For a week, police searched the river with drones and found nothing. Then they spotted a single crocodile sitting on a small island, belly bulging, completely still while a helicopter buzzed overhead. Every other croc in the area slid into the water at the noise. This one didn't move. That gave them their answer. A police captain was lowered on a rope. They killed the crocodile, lifted it out by helicopter, and flew it about 3 miles to Kruger National Park to be cut open. Batista's ring was inside. So were the six other pairs of shoes. The crocodile was 15 feet long and weighed 1,100 pounds, about the size of a horse. Nile crocodiles like this one kill somewhere between 300 and 1,000 people every year in Africa. Around half of all attacks end in death. Your bite is about 150 pounds of pressure. A lion's bite is 650. A saltwater crocodile's bite, the strongest ever measured in any living animal, is 3,700. That is enough to snap bone. Once those jaws close, the limb does not come back out. Then there is how they hunt. A crocodile resting underwater can hold its breath for two hours. Its heart slows to two or three beats a minute, basically off. When it decides to move, it can swim at 18 miles an hour, faster than any human in any pool, ever. Picture a flooded river. The crocodile saw you the moment you went in. It picked the right second to move, and you never saw a ripple. The Komati flows right next to Kruger National Park, in some of the most crocodile-heavy water on earth. The bridge Batista tried to cross is locally known to flood. December through March is the rainy season in this part of South Africa, when crocodiles breed and are most aggressive. Batista went in during peak danger. The six pairs of shoes are still being tested. Police suspect at least some belong to other people the crocodile had eaten.

@SuketuK @aditya_kondawar They all are the same. The only solution is to keep baiting them by comparing it with other banks and threatning them that they will move your banking to other branch. Some will care, some will not

Working capital is the most underestimated force in business. Let’s imagine you have a business running at $ 500k per month of sales. All of a sudden you experience a breakout moment: - 15% sales growth month-over-month for a year - With a net income margin of 10% Extending that growth will lead to a total of $14.5M sales in the first year and $1.45M net income. Now make some working capital assumptions: - Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) of 30 Days - Days Inventory Outstanding (DIO) of 30 Days - Days Payable Outstanding (DPO) of 30 Days i.e. a Cash Conversion Cycle (CCC) of 30 Days: (DSO + DIO - DPO). Despite the $1.45M profitability, the business won’t generate any cashflow in year one. In fact it will outflow ~$375k of cash over those twelve months as it lays down the additional working capital needed to react to the growth. Now, lets run some scenarios (see the image) assuming that same business starts with $ 1M of cash on the balance sheet: If we assume the same dynamics, but instead imagine the business had poor inventory control, and ran on a CCC of 90 days. That same business would now have a negative cash balance of ~$3m by Christmas… or more accurately would be dead by June. And at that CCC, even if the business 2.5x that net margin to 25%, the business would still run out of cash in 9 months (that is despite now generating ~$3.6M of profit). Now imagine the opposite were true, the business, ran on a negative CCC of 60 days, funded by a willing supplier; with very tight inventory and receivables levels. In this scenario, even if the net margin were only 5%, the cash balance would explode to over $ 5M (positive) by the end of the year. In fact, at a negative 60 days CCC, even if the business operated at a 25% net loss margin, it would still survive the year (just about). This illustrates how much more sensitive working capital (and cashflow) is to changes in the business, than any profit metric you can choose. I call this effect: The Cashflow Megaphone. And as a long time turnaround CFO, understanding this inside out was the most valuable technical weapon in my armory in bending broken cashflows back into the black. And in times of volatile trading and macro conditions, these dynamics are more important than ever (especially when supply chains are gummed up like they are right now)

The day before he killed himself, Hitler tested his cyanide pills on his dog. The dog died in seconds. By April 1945, Hitler was hiding 8 meters underground in a concrete bunker beneath Berlin. The Soviet army was 500 meters from his door. He was 56. After years of drug injections from his personal doctor, his left hand shook so badly he could barely sign his name. He had not seen daylight in 105 days. April 20 was his birthday. He went up to the garden behind his headquarters and handed medals to boys from the Hitler Youth who were fighting Soviet tanks. It was the last time he saw the sun. April 28: Hitler had Eva Braun's brother-in-law Hermann Fegelein, an SS general, shot in the garden for trying to flee Berlin in regular clothes. April 29, just after midnight: Hitler married his longtime girlfriend Eva Braun. The ceremony was 10 minutes. She started writing her old last name on the marriage certificate, caught herself, and wrote "Hitler" instead. They served champagne afterward. Later that afternoon, Hitler dictated his will. Then his doctor tested a cyanide pill on his German Shepherd Blondi. Her puppies were shot afterward. April 30 at 3:30 PM: Hitler bit into a cyanide pill and shot himself in the right temple. Eva took cyanide alone, sitting next to him on the couch. Their bodies were carried up to the garden, soaked with 200 liters of gasoline (about 4 full car tanks), and set on fire. Soviet soldiers captured the parliament building that same afternoon, 500 meters away. The next day, Hitler's propaganda chief Joseph Goebbels and his wife Magda poisoned their 6 children in the bunker. Then they walked outside and killed themselves too. Berlin surrendered 48 hours later. Germany followed within a week. A man who had ruled Germany for 12 years died in a concrete box with his wife of 40 hours and the ashes of his dog.

Today, exercising the provisions of the Constitution of India, more than two-thirds of the AAP MPs in the Rajya Sabha have merged with the BJP. Seven MPs have signed the document, which was submitted to the Hon’ble Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. I, along with two other MPs, personally handed over the signed documents.

@UJJAVALSHAH2 Appeared to be a Parsi lady. The community enjoys overall goodwill in Mumbai. Would have been a PR disaster had they tried strong arm tactics. Also Mahajan handled it very coolly. Have to hand him that 🙂

eventually you have to call the waiter to order. What is the point? you know what's worse? Where you place a order on the app/website itself and then a waiter comes and confirms it again. HOW STUPID ARE WE!!!!!!!
Shivani@shivanimatla

i absolutely hate when some restaurants ask you to scan a qr for the menu because now it’s a table full of friends just on their phones. the joy of collectively flipping through well designed menus and debating what to order while yapping is such a wholesome experience. i get the operational ease but something very real was lost

@aanalonelyfans It's basically coming from people who don't follow F1 . They are reading the headlines wrong. It's also a joke when they get banned from a race, that they end up saying they are going to jail.

As per so-called infra influencers, everyone in Mumbai is responsible for the poor quality of life, except the BJP Govt that is at power at all 3 levels- BMC, State Govt and the centre. Cute. They are experts at deflecting blame to bureaucracy while somehow exculpating the BJP.
