The algo favors our tendency to act quickly and arrive at conclusions faster, reinforcing a constant feedback loop that our minds struggle to resist. Over time, we have been conditioned to engage with social media in this way. We often trust someone online within seconds, simply because they speak our language. In reality, we are not forming trust in the traditional sense - we are often just confirming what already exists in our own minds. But because we find it uncomfortable to question ourselves or be proven wrong, we project this confirmation onto others and call it trust. And in doing so, we alter one of the most fundamental coordination tools humans have relied on for centuries.
