@DCLAReadingRoom Would it be some sort of transliteration or phonetic translation of something like Donegal Irish into English language spelling or interpretation? It's quite fun to read out loud :)

On the anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, we thought we'd answer a question that's often asked, "If they raised the Mary Rose, why not raise the Titanic?" Allow our scaled diagram to explain...

@AvaSantina That's such a shame :( the same developer group are shutting the fantastic YMCA in Soho too. Maybe not as culturally significant, but a super local community resource

Just thinking about this. You’d have to replace some of the battery with C-4. When do you get the chance to do this? People hang on to their pagers. Unless they were all issued new pagers recently, in which case the path to the culprit is clearer.
Phil Stewart@phildstewart

!!! (Reuters) - Hundreds of members of the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah were seriously wounded on Tuesday when the pagers they use to communicate exploded, security sources told Reuters. •Hezbollah official says pager detonations constitute 'biggest security breach yet

Coincidentally, on the morning that this Times article/puff piece appeared advocating paid-for wild camping as a ‘solution’ to the Right to Roam, I woke up in a tent next on Dartmoor: the only place in England that free wild camping is still (just about) legal. Here are some of my thoughts on why ‘paywalling nature’ is not an answer…

Seems like more people should be talking about how a libertarian charter city startup funded by Sam Altman, Marc Andreessen, and Peter Thiel is trying to bankrupt Honduras. Próspera is suing Honduras to the tune of $11B (GDP is $32B) and is expected to win, per the NYT 🧵

I make up cringe corporate sayings in Teams meetings to see if they catch on. I felt a great sense of achievement when my boss remarked about a client wanting a sub-standard product "if the ducks want bread, give them bread". I had forgotten about that one.

@CliveDavisUK To your question in the newsletter, I've always jumped at the change to go to @swkplay regardless of the production. The foyer/bar gets a little squashed but there's always such a great pre-show atmosphere and the staff are top-notch

No Robert you do not get to go on national broadcasters and say one thing and try and pretend you said something else after! If you genuinely feel your comments on @SkyNews were inappropriate, offensive, incendiary and anti Muslim ( which they were) then start by apologising Then you can go back to pretending you are a responsible candidate for the leadership of our party. Not prepared to let you and other colleagues get away with this gaslighting and playing these games anymore- too much damage has already been done to our country and it deserves better than this populist nonsense.
Robert Jenrick@RobertJenrick

‘Allahu Akbar’ is spoken peacefully and spiritually by millions of British Muslims in their daily lives. But the aggressive chanting below is intimidatory and threatening. And it’s an offence under Section 4 and 5 of the Public Order Act. Extremists routinely abuse common expressions for their own shameful ends. All violence must end. All violence must be called out.

@HistoryExtra Maybe too late - but some discussion of where the line is between colonisation and migration. Or if such a distinction is helpful at all. A driver of empire was adult children without inheritance forced to seek fortune - can we call that migration?

@HistoryExtra Think it would be interesting to explore to what extent it's ever voluntary - when people make a positive choice to migrate, rather than needing to out of economic or other necessity. Also, to see the food aspect. What of our current diet is based in historical movements
