I can’t quite remember where I got this framing from but I think it’s so powerful because it makes me aware of my agency in the world We each notice and observe different problems, and usually you only give a problem any meaningful thought when you have some experience in the domain, some skin in the game

Problems are often seen as a bug, but really they’re a feature. It really just is a signal that something needs your attention And all we really have is time and attention, so choose where you want to apply your limited quantities of each Hopefully you apply some of it to problems that you care about and are excited about solving

Kinda surprised at the way tech twitter is receiving this interview… All he’s doing is maximizing the positives of tech (quick communication in this case) while minimizing the negatives (addictive feeds, compulsively checking email, etc.). He even says that he’s in a privileged position such that he can do that (presumably, having assistants) Isn’t this fully logical and even something we should try to optimize for, as much as we can? (tldr: saying “he still uses email but it’s via paper” isn’t the gotcha you think it is)

Christopher Nolan admits he’s never used email or owned a smartphone.

I have a theory now on the future of work in the age of AI 1) increased workforce surveillance is going to become the norm to help with documentation. This has started with email jobs, but is going to expand to in-person jobs too. 2) Jobs are going to increasingly split between people figuring out which tasks need to be done and people who have a list of tasks to do. 3) The interesting part is going to be how compensation changes. I think AI is going to become great at assessing task complexity and comp is going to look more like base salary + bonuses based on task complexity Ironically, healthcare is already quite far ahead on this curve because of how much documentation is logged and captured for documentation and a reimbursement system that forces us to translate task complexity to dollars I wrote a longer post about this and a breakdown of more specifics + questions on what that means for employees in the comments

@nomiDesigns @VadimCarazan I think it’s important to note that Apple was using the logo with the word mark + Newton between 1976-77. It lasted approx a year before it was changed to the Apple we have today

@VadimCarazan I shared that particular example because it had the name embedded in it. Apple had come a long way to reduce to that icon. So did Nike. I believe a logo need to show the business in the beginning at least.

just a reminder for anyone who thinks their logo needs to explain what they do: Apple's logo is an apple.

Open source Command A+ model This tech can go one of two ways. It can go the way the internet and mobile phones did - in which technological hegemony resulted in a mostly disempowering tech. Or it can empower the people that use it. We are working towards that second one.
Cohere@cohere

Introducing: Cohere Command A+ We’ve created our most powerful LLM yet, optimized it to run on as little hardware as possible, and released it open-source for all.

Feeling like I’m lacking discipline and structure in my life recently so gonna try and do a custom version of 75-hard. Here’s the list of daily goals: • Deep work >4 hours • 1 hour (max) of social media • Drink >2L of water • Meditate >10 mins • Dedicated reading session of something long-form • At least one workout per day Anything I should add?

Really don’t understand the tech obsession with trying to automate the process of booking flights… I think I travel reasonably frequently and it’s really not a big deal to click around for a couple of mins to book a flight…
