Instead of letting Thames Water off the hook for £123m in fines, I've got another idea. Why not ban it from paying a penny in dividends until it stops dumping shit in rivers?

I've long thought and continue to think that the single dumbest group of people are those who believe that the US Govt fights wars to free the oppressed peoples of the world. The slightest knowledge of US history shows it far more often imposes dictatorships than uproots them.

This has to be some kind of grim joke. Does Yvette Cooper not know that we've noticed that the Strait was closed as a result of the invasion. When there's a war, people do things like blockages, sieges, and counter-actions. The Strait was open before the war, Yvette.

BLACKROCK MOVES INTO NHS PROPERTY This is real, and people should pay attention. BlackRock and the Greater Manchester Pension Fund have launched a joint venture targeting an initial £1 billion portfolio of NHS leased real estate assets. Reports say the venture starts with 65 modern primary care sites serving more than 700,000 patients across England, Scotland and Wales. This is about primary healthcare property linked to GP and NHS services. It does not prove that BlackRock will own NHS hospitals forever. It does show that private finance is moving deeper into the property behind public healthcare. That matters because the public should be told exactly how this works. Who owns what. Who collects rent. What returns are expected. How long the arrangements run. What risks sit behind the deal. If public healthcare property is being turned into an investment vehicle, the public deserves the full structure in plain English. The NHS is in crisis — and the government’s solution is to remove training jobs, likely pushing even more doctors to leave or work overseas. The government thinks it is acting tough, but it is the patients who will suffer. What a disgrace.
