At 29:48, President Trump’s second inaugural address is the longest in modern history (going back to FDR in 1933). I’m sure William Henry Harrison’s inaugural speech (8,445 words) is still the longest.

Spent Monday going to DC and back so I could attend the final walk with WWII WASP pilot Dorothy Swain Lewis @ArlingtonNatl. Dot was a talented teacher, pilot, horsewoman, musician, and artist. She was incredibly kind and welcoming. I am grateful to have called her a friend.

@SarahLouMiller I've spent over 30 years studying these women & had the great luck to know many of them. For the 38, it depended on where they were based, but they were never officially allowed the flag. They were technically civil servants but fought for & were granted vet recognition in 1977.

Today I discovered that in the US in WWII, 38 women died flying aircraft in the service of their country. The military provided only the pine box; fellow women pilots chipped in to cover burial expenses and a flag for the coffins. How sad - what a bond these women must have had.

@katelanddeck Your book’s on my summer reading. At Travis AFB I had two friends who flew: Kris, a C-5 Nav and Leslie, a C-141 pilot. Both were inspired by WASPs & Kris met one. They gave a talk at my old AFROTC det at San Francisco State. Really inspired the women cadets!
