"Copy, moon joy." 🌕✨ The #ArtemisII mission's stunning new images of the moon are making us think about the lunar maps created long before space travel was possible for humankind. This one is by Polish astronomer Johannes Hevelius (1611-1687), often referred to as the founder of lunar topography. 🧵

Make new friends, but keep the old. A new photo captures the Moon's near side on the right (the side we see from Earth, identifiable by its dark splotches) and its far side on the left. The Artemis II crew are the first to see the far side with human eyes.

A newly found bright spot on the moon has been named Carroll by the Artemis II crew. This is named after astronaut Reid Wiseman's late wife.

Carroll, now a bright spot on our Moon, because four people, who traveled farther from Earth than any human in the 4.5-billion-year history of Earth has ever been, loved someone so much, they carried her the whole way there.

Have you ever seen the original artwork for Revolver? Designed by Robert Freeman, who'd previously created five covers for the band between 1963 and 1965, the artwork was ultimately passed over in favour of Klaus Voormann's design.
