I love my country with all my heart and I've never been more embarrassed for America than the spectacle I just witnessed in the Oval Office. Zelensky is fighting for the survival of his country, his people and their democracy. Trump and Vance appear to be completely aligned with Putin, the invader whose aim has been to conquer Ukraine. Zelensky should know that millions and millions of Americans still stand with him and his valiant people.

I'm hearing from experts around the world about what the destruction of USAID is meaning: "a global health massacre," in the words of a doctor who has devoted her life to humanitarian work on the front lines. Millions of malnourished children left to starve. Pregnant women not getting micronutrients to prevent neural tube defects. Programs against schistosomiasis abandoned. HIV positive patients left without ARV's. Water no longer purified. Surveillance against Ebola and bird flu set back. TB patients unable to get medicine. I've long argued that USAID should be reformed, but this Trump/Musk demolition is cruel and incompetent and benefits China, while killing children just as wonderful as our own.

Federal workers choose public service to serve our people, but the Trump administration wants to traumatize them. We need cancer researchers, forest service firefighters, nuclear safety experts, VA nurses and food safety inspectors. We don’t need Elon Musk, whatever his job is.

Would hope you had more important things to worry about (you know the cost of eggs, childcare, veterans waiting for care…could literally go on) but hey since you raised it I purchased these myself to write notes to colleagues and staff to thank them for their work and also to write back to people who wrote me including kids. How dare I!

R01 resubmission was a waste. 3 years of work. 12 percentile on first submission and now it will not get reviewed. Trying to keep chin up and move forward is daunting. This storm is perfect to wipe out early stage investigators.
