I’m sat in my first Essex County Council meeting on Monday morning, listening to a councillor induction presentation. ‘Any questions?’ asks an officer. A hand goes up. ‘Yes’ says a recently elected Labour member. ‘Do I get a pension as a councillor?’. His first question was about how much money he gets. Not procedure, or meeting dates or where the loos are… but how much cash he can grab. Same old Labour.

If you get in a lift and could smell perfume would you think the woman wearing it was a prostitute?
You can smell it so are the trying to seduce you?
So why make the assumption because you can smell drink the person is drunk? If someone is stinking of body odour are they hard working or just unclean mingers?

Should MPs be banned from boozing in Parliament?
Green MP Hannah Spencer has said she feels "uneasy" when she can "smell the alcohol" on MPs when they vote.
She says people in normal jobs wouldn't be able to have a few drinks during a shift, so why should MPs?

What will stop people from smoking it during their lunch break etc? Will new laws be needed to prevent people who are under the influence using machinery?

I'm a pensioner. My pension, although I've contributed for 50 years, is a benefit. I'm being taxed on my benefit. My tax pays for this free service for working parents
