@tpldude @AliceTalksFooty I know but we cant just take things in isolation and claim genius..ManU pressed at moments, equalised through a mistake & scored 2 special goals. Those 2 teams had tactical requirements beyond motivational speach and Carrick failed. Didnt even try to win really

@kaydee04 @AliceTalksFooty I think Alice’s post is about how Arsenal played against City vs how United played. Newcastle and Bournemouth are different teams and require different approaches. Both Arsenal and City also had difficult games against those two.

Michael Carrick told Man Utd to go right at City's defence and as a result we scored two and could have scored about five. Guehi, Dias & Gvardiol are all out. I can't believe Mikel Arteta didn't either try and have a go at City and stuck with coward tactics. We have seen City be defensively vulnerable when you give them a go. Arteta's approach was costly..

@AliceTalksFooty I dont like Arsenal 1 bit but I honestly cant think of a more coward tactics lately than the whole of 2nd half Man Utd vs Newcastle. Infact in the days of SAF & Mou, this was an aberation to not go for the kill immediately!!!

I have learned that the lawless Department of State Services (DSS) has arbitrarily and unlawfully detained a social media influencer known as Sarki @Waspapping_. He was reportedly arrested over comments he made about the Israel–Iran war, particularly criticisms directed at the State of Israel over its egregious warmongering and crimes against humanity in Gaza and elsewhere. No Nigerian citizen should be arrested or detained simply for expressing opinions about the actions of foreign governments or commenting on ongoing international conflicts. Freedom of expression must apply equally to discussions about global affairs and acts of war involving foreign interests. The DSS must therefore immediately release Sarki @Waspapping_ and end this unlawful detention. Nigeria cannot claim to be a democracy while citizens are arrested for expressing views on international events. #FreeWasPappingNOW.

@UtdMaI Unfortunately even at his best, he's still not a top ball playing defender, slow in mind & movement. Takes ages to find a man if he finds... Without Martinez, we cant play out from the back.. he thrives more on panic, aerial duels, & clearances rather than control

Maguire run really inspires me alot. At Manchester United, he rose from being a joke to the whole world to becoming one of the most important players. It takes someone with a strong mind and strong spirit to survive that. His story should be documented and be told frm generations to generations.

@AliceTalksFooty It was also how Carrick set up the team after half time, defenders still sitting deep, keeping 4 defenders on the pitch & 1 attacker up top. Yoro was scared of the ball and was still kept on, so was Shaw & Mainoo..the intent wasnt there from the manager tbh

City were all over a Newcastle side that were all over us on Wednesday. Will say it again but Man Utd really need to organise a friendly game or two. 1 game in 35 days is really not going to help the players, and we have seen it with slow starts/ tempo... it's like pre-season where we need time to get up to it. The gaps are just to long, being out of Europe can give us an advantage but being out of the FA cup so early has given us a disadvantage as we kept getting 11 day, 13 day and 22 day breaks between games.

@UtdBloke_ Thats not the issue..is how he lost without maximizing the squad and not addressing the very obvious. Amorim jas already done alot of the heavy lifting with the team's fitness, discipline & mentality

@RobDawsonESPN Yes and if Man Utd had lost in after actively trying to win since the red card, fine. But fielding exactly the same team in the same shape after half time with way they played 1st half. No! A single attacking half time change would have signified intent & possibly won it for them

Extreme reactions to results is a problem for a lot of clubs, but particularly Man United. Carrick hasn't become a bad manager overnight. His biggest problem is a thin squad. Stretched beyond a good 12 or 13 and there's not much there.

@StretfordPost Agreed 💯 but a manager still has to do all with the available tools to give the team better chance to succeed. Carrick didnt yesterday. Not making an attacking sub at halftime with those defenders always receiving the ball slogishly without purpose is almost unforgivable.

It was never just Jose. It wasn’t just Rangnick. It wasn’t even Ten Hag or Amorim. The problem at Manchester United runs deeper than the man on the touchline. Too many people analyse football in the most simplistic way “get the ball, kick it in the goal.” But elite football is played just as much in the mind as it is with the feet. And for years now, United have lacked that monster mentality that ruthless, relentless edge that defines great sides. There’s a psychological block at this club. You can see it whenever we’re on the verge of something meaningful. When the pressure rises and the opportunity is there to capitalise, we shrink instead of surge. We are comfortable when expectations are low. But when we’re “nearly there” when it’s time to step on throats and take control we hesitate. That’s not a tactical flaw. That’s cultural. No manager walks into that and fixes it overnight. Changing systems is easy. Changing mentality is monumental. And until that inner steel returns the belief, the aggression, the refusal to blink we’ll continue to flatter to deceive whenever the moment demands more. The badge demands monsters. Right now, we don’t have enough of them.

If Mainoo is old enough to demand more money from the club while delaying a contract extension and old enough to demand game time from managers, then he’s also old enough to receive criticism for poor performances.

@jstmatty9 @UTDKara Lol. Not starting Amad wasnt the problem, he need to rest those 2 games, not bringing him in at half time for a defense minded playerwas the issue! Ps. Try watching the last 3 matches & see y Utd truly struggled...LM**

Amorim’s intense style of play possession football, man to man marking, and his system is starting to fade away from these players. For the past four games, we’ve just been playing vibes football, with individual brilliance from Sesko and Bruno Fernandes saving us. Let’s admit it the players are now playing the same way we saw under Erik. And it’s going to hurt us later. That’s why I told you all Amorim was building a monster in them. But after a few weeks, all the hard work is gone just like that. After this season, we should go for Luis Enrique. We also need to sign five new players and move on from Malacia, Dalot, Shaw, Ugarte, Zirkzee, Casemiro, and a few academy players.

@ZaidBalll Not over the top really. Its easy, against 10 men at halftime. Make attacking subs, use the width, win the game! Interim, got nothin to lose

@MartienBall Today was slightly different though, coz there were subs that could have been made early, tactical switches to create more width, but he waited for hope. Players were bad but Carrick did not help them 2nd half

@AnnemarieDray I don't think its a debate at all. He shouldn't be manager. He is good, but not gutsy wanting to win everyday good. The lack of tactical switch n subs against 10 men ina game so glaring is criminal!!!

Whether you think Michael Carrick should be permanent manager of Manchester United is a honest debate but what I find truly ludicrous and borderline laughable is the people holding him to a higher standard than they ever held Amorim.

Carrick shouldn't have been getting the job when we were winning and he shouldn't not get the job now we've lost. United need to run a best in class management process and stop thinking about whether Carrick is good enough or not. Interview him with the others and take the best

All I’m going to say is, even if Carrick leads us to the Champions League, don’t give him the contract. This is the same scenario we saw under Ole players playing freely and winning games. But when things change or get tough, that’s when you really know who is capable of leading the team.

I genuinely don’t understand how people rate Luke Shaw. What exactly does he do? Defensively, he gets cooked nearly every game. Offensively, I can’t even remember the last time he created a big chance with a cross. He’s one of the biggest false images in football. For some reason people think he’s good enough, when in reality he doesn’t really excel at anything. And that’s before we even talk about his availability.

@Rise_Forge @MartienBall I agree and I support this narrative mostly but today, the manager did not give the team the best support to excel. Its abysmal not making an attacking sub at half time with extreme bad performances from Yoro, Shaw, Mainoo, Mbuemo

You’re not wrong. At some point, accountability has to shift from the touchline to the pitch. A manager can structure a team, drill patterns, adjust shape but he can’t make simple passes, win duels, or show hunger for second balls. Yes, tactics matter. But when professional players can’t control tempo against 10 men or manage a game state properly, that’s not about needing a miracle worker like Pep Guardiola or Sir Alex Ferguson. That’s about standards. Individual brilliance might steal you moments. But dominance? That requires collective discipline, intensity, and football intelligence. And that’s where the gap is obvious. Criticism isn’t negativity it’s demanding the level that a club like Manchester United should represent. Standards made this club elite. Lowering them in the name of “positivity” helps no one.

Performances have been poor for quite some time now, but unfortunately if you point that out you’re either labelled negative or an “Amorim sexual”. People have a hard time accepting that the core issue is the players. They can still win games because there’s individual quality there, but collectively they’re nowhere near consistent enough. If you think United players need Guardiola or Ferguson just to dominate teams with 10 men, then I really don’t know what to say…
