Tony Benn died 12 years ago today. An endlessly courageous voice for socialism, democracy and peace - who inspired me and so many others. His legacy lives on in our endless struggle against all forms of violence, bigotry, oppression and exploitation. This year I graduated with a PhD, produced and directed a BBC sponsored sell out showcase at the Leicester Sq theatre, co-produced and directed an all female sketch show at the Edinburgh fringe that transferred toSoho Theatre and became a grandma. My 69th year was a doozy 🙏

I was feeling lonely one day. So set up a WhatsApp group for women who work in comedy. It’s been a few months. The group is nearly 800 strong and it’s bloody lovely and liberating. Women, we’re stronger together.

I am utterly devastated by Bill's death. I still can't believe it. He was a comedy genius. A hugely talented writer as well as a brilliant producer. A close friend and co-writer. I cannot begin to say how much I'll miss him. #RIPBillDare
