@LenaKauffman Getting us back to the topic at hand. We need safer streets for our kids. This is distressing.

I worry about this every day with my kids. Even our #a2schools pedestrian safety recommendations put all the responsibility for safety on the pedestrian and none on drivers. See the AAPS walking safety tips here: a2schools.org/Page/14357
Ann Arbor Police@A2Police

On 3/8/23 at approximately 8am officers responded to S 7th Street and Snyder Ave for a crash involving a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation revealed a 16yo female Pioneer HS student was crossing the intersection in a crosswalk when she was struck by a car traveling SB. 1/

@jdmortenson @JeaniceSwift @A2schools Yes, frustrating to see that our school has power and our kids can’t go. Even if it doesn’t “count”, Could the schools at least open so our kids can be warm and safe? We have no power, no heat. Thank goodness for public libraries - our public schools are no help. @JeaniceSwift

I try not to do this on here. But @JeaniceSwift, I really have to ask. My kid’s @A2schools facility visibly has power, and the roads are bone dry. Can you help our community’s children understand why they’re stuck at home again tomorrow rather than at school with their friends?

The Innocents Abroad by Mark Twain is #52books2022 #44. This timeless Twain travelogue is bursting with observations and humor. A lovely read for those itching to return to pre-pandemic exploration.

@jdmortenson Page 117. We saw the painting when we were in The Hague, and I decided it was finally time to read this book.

I’m close to giving up on The Goldfinch. 10% of the way in and she’s *still* inching through a painstaking narrative of the bad thing that apparently shapes the rest of the book. It’s beautifully done but relentless and finally too much. Should I persist?

Biking home from work today someone rolled down their van window to shout “loser” at me. I can’t decide if I’m comforted or dismayed that this gentleman took his attention away from the dismantling of federalism and democracy to focus on my safety vest 🤔 @TheWarOnCars

This looks great. Do the work, and focus on being the thing, not just looking like it. Remember how much you don’t know, but stand by what you do. And respect everyone. (Yes, everyone.) amazon.com/Humbitious-Pow…

@LiliaCortina @lnmargolis @ViewFromMI @A2schools @A2SchoolsSuper Yes, please. A mom with a 1st grader, 5th grader and 8th grader eagerly awaits. All of our kids deserve predictable in-person school. Currently, in Ann Arbor that is reserved for those who switched to private schools because their families lost faith in our public schools.

@lnmargolis @ViewFromMI @A2schools @A2SchoolsSuper Thinking more about your tweet Liz, I’m baffled. What is your point? That it’s harder to open 32 school buildings compared to all of the university, after 6 inches of snow? That kindergarteners need in-person school less than college kids? Please clarify.

Day 3 of Zoom in @a2schools. A run-down of my son’s Calculus class: 1. Attendance: teacher tallied # kids logged in 2. Pet show & tell: my son met many dogs, a few cats, one rabbit 3. 20 minutes into class: log out. Class was done. No attempt at math. This is not school.
