I worry about this every day with my kids. Even our #a2schools pedestrian safety recommendations put all the responsibility for safety on the pedestrian and none on drivers. See the AAPS walking safety tips here: a2schools.org/Page/14357

On 3/8/23 at approximately 8am officers responded to S 7th Street and Snyder Ave for a crash involving a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation revealed a 16yo female Pioneer HS student was crossing the intersection in a crosswalk when she was struck by a car traveling SB. 1/

Even if it doesn’t “count”, Could the schools at least open so our kids can be warm and safe? We have no power, no heat. Thank goodness for public libraries - our public schools are no help. @JeaniceSwift

I’m close to giving up on The Goldfinch. 10% of the way in and she’s *still* inching through a painstaking narrative of the bad thing that apparently shapes the rest of the book. It’s beautifully done but relentless and finally too much. Should I persist?

Currently, in Ann Arbor that is reserved for those who switched to private schools because their families lost faith in our public schools.

Day 3 of Zoom in @a2schools. A run-down of my son’s Calculus class:
1. Attendance: teacher tallied # kids logged in
2. Pet show & tell: my son met many dogs, a few cats, one rabbit
3. 20 minutes into class: log out. Class was done.
No attempt at math.
This is not school.

Kids of our community bave suffered learning loss & need to be in person. Stop shaming parents who still believe in the promise of public education.
