The U.S. Army has received its first M1E3 Abrams prototype from General Dynamics Land Systems, advancing its modular, lighter, and next-generation main battle tank program.

The ship that struck the Brooklyn Bridge was the Mexican sail training ship ARM Cuauhtémoc. She was built in Spain in 1982 and has three sisterships. It appears the ship lost power after casting off. The tug Charles D McAllister was on hand to assist her departure from South Street Seaport. The ship lost her topmasts, and parts of her crew were stationed in them when she hit the Brooklyn Bridge. The Police and FDNY arrived on the scene to assist in the rescue. The ship was stopped and anchored before hitting the Manhattan Bridge.

@Squawka Big chance created

The biggest wild card in the presidential election that nobody’s talking about? The looming port strike that could shut down all East and Gulf Coast ports just 36 days before the election. 🧵

From @TheAthletic: In the end, against what so many thought Paris 2024 would or wouldn’t be, these Olympics delivered on the largest scale. The Games were a return to what everyone was looking for. The light. nyti.ms/3WZEdfv

I've been VERY critical of US Navy leadership, but this is THE most damning evidence I've found all year: I asked ChatGPT for the 5 best naval journalists. All five are excellent, but three stopped writing navy news & @CavasShips complains weekly about Navy leadership and PAOs making the job difficult. How can @USNavyCNO expect funding and support from Congress if they don't support the journalists writing about them? @SECNAV needs to rewatch that scene in The Right Stuff when John Glenn & Gordo Cooper explain to NASA "NO bucks, NO Buck Rogers... and the press over there all want to see Buck Rogers" youtube.com/watch?v=a7rGA0… Well, guess where Neil Armstrong, Alan Shepard, John Glenn, @SenMarkKelly, and so many real-life Buck Rogers got their start? ON US NAVY AIRCRAFT CARRIERS. Do you really think aircraft carriers can survive without journalists reporting problems, keeping budgets on track, and getting the public excited about new hulls?? I say... NO @maeday22, NO @DavidLarter, NO @gidget_fuentes, NO @samlagrone, NO @CavasShips = NO CARRIERS NO CARRIERS = NO BUCK ROGERS The words I heard most often my first week as a Plebe at the Naval Academy were "Get Your Sh!t Together, Konrad!" It was good, back-to-basics advice. Well I say... Get your Sh!t Together, Franchetti! This is not hard. The Navy spent $1.8 million on ONE Super Bowl commercial last year. You spend tens of millions EVERY YEAR on Public Affairs Officers who - more often than not - make the jobs of serious naval reporters a living hell. Take that money and buy ads on defense news on the condition they treat naval journalists like rockstars with better pay than the defense contractors who keep stealing them. Give them free and open access to every 2-star and above, both in CONUS and in the air. Fire or retrain EVERY single PAO. The future security of our nation is at stake. P.S. Don't forget video! Dr. @mercoglianos & @wardcarroll, you two are the most viewed YouTube reporters on the amazing work IKE did in the Red Sea. Let me ask you... how many times did the Navy or @CENTCOM offer to fly you guys out to a ship in the Red Sea?
