@rationalyankee There was absolutely no logic to it at all. He hadn’t pitched for months. Hasnt pitched out of the bullpen for a long time. bring him in a clean inning not bases loaded at th very least Also you have Tim hill who is a lefty specialist and has great numbers with bases loaded

I will go to my grave saying that I agreed with Boone bringing in Nestor at the time and I still do now. People act like there was no logic at all to it. The Yankees had Nestor ramped up to come out of the bullpen. They knew what his stuff looked like. Nestor was going to have to face at least two batters and Boone thought Nestor was a better matchup for Betts than Hill was. And he was correct about that. Verdugo falling into the stands moved the runners up, allowed the Yankees to avoid giving Betts a platoon advantage with the winning run in scoring position. Then Freeman hit out a pitch that he hadn’t homered on all season. Nestor got Ohtani to fly out in that inning. I don’t get the argument that he wasn’t prepared to pitch in that spot when he was able to get one of the greatest players ever out in a big at bat. People who still try to crucify Boone are just upset that a really good baseball team beat the Yankees and they’re using shallow logic to blame the manager for it.

We had to watch Nestor Cortes come out of the bullpen in the 10th inning of the 2024 World Series

Pro athletes are literally built differently. I went to high school with 2 successful MLB pitchers. Craziest story came from freshman year: During tryouts, one of the tests they had us do was to see how far we could throw a baseball. We walked out to the football practice field and lined up in the end zone. I threw 60-65 yards. Then a kid (the future pro) threw a ball out of the other end zone. As. A. Freshman. Every coach stopped what they were doing, handed him another ball and said “do it again”. And he did. By sophomore year he was throwing in the mid to upper 90’s. You cannot teach that kind of arm talent. You’re either born with it or you’re not. I was not.

BREAKING: Several gangs in LA are reportedly trucing so they can accompany people to their immigration hearings and prevent ICE from abducting them, and it’s effective because ICE officials are afraid of them, which is why ICE goes after assimilated immigrants with families.

I’m not a Christian. But I believe Pope Francis was the most badass Pope in history. He refused to reduce God to a magician. Fought climate collapse. And preached like he time-traveled from 2140. Here are 9 reasons why he was lightyears ahead of his time: 🧵

Off-loading Federal expenses to the States seems like a sensible idea for a Republican administration, until you realize: Nine of the ten States that rely most on Government funding -- all receiving more money per capita than they pay in taxes -- voted Red in the last election.

Since this has been trending, here’s a fun fact: “It insists upon itself” was a criticism my college film history professor used to explain why he didn’t think “The Sound of Music” was a great film. First-rate teacher, but I never quite followed that one.
