The whole No Kings protest is mostly speeches about voting and how we need to vote Democrat in November.

@BigFish3000 Nice try. I took the Amtrak home. We tried to pay TSA almost a dozen times and Republicans said no every time. Then the GOP Speaker closed session last night and sent everyone home. Please Google what party is in charge of Congress right now. The answer may surprise you!

American leftists sole goal at this point is trying to undercut everything liberals do while conceding the entire field to the right and not opposing them in any way, shape or form. Just totally bankrupt ideological orientation that has become Mark Fishers deepest nightmare.

@HamiltonCain @keithdorejel Hundreds of thousands of people who attended today’s events will have been recruited and motivated to canvass for Dem candidates in the fall.

@keithdorejel I agree about not throwing shade but I don't see much of a political upside. These protests don't move the needle--at best they let the rest of the world know we want Trump gone.

There really isn’t any reason to throw shade at No Kings. It has no real negatives and a lot of upside.

@keithdorejel Like literally no negatives to getting anti-fascist people connected to other anti-fascist people in there local communities. Especially when every single digital platform is owned by a billionaire Trump sycophant.

@mistergeezy No, all 75+ million people people who voted for Harris stayed home today. Every single one. The people who showed up in the cold today are the lazy ones who couldn’t be bothered to vote in 2024. Because that’s how humans work.

@DenaKhalafallah Almost like the more people who are able to attend, the more people you can register to vote and the more people you can organize toward other efforts without the watchful eye of billionaire-owned digital platforms. But go off I guess.

and yet, no clear demands for the people in power, and it’s on a saturday, which means their pockets & the markets aren’t negatively affected to send a clear message either

Tomorrow, millions of Americans will be joining No Kings rallies. We will be saying NO to authoritarianism. NO to oligarchy. NO to endless wars. NO to the continued attacks against the working class. I look forward to seeing you in St. Paul, MN.

@figueroa_ii @thinkpiecetribe Using it as an opportunity to canvass and give people an option for what’s next is literally the entire point of these gatherings

@thinkpiecetribe Yeah, my DSA Chapter is using it as an opportunity to canvass and give people an option for "what's next?". Also to boo our shitty congressman lol. Outside of that though its just a mass release valve that leaves mfs totally unfulfilled, apathetic and disillusioned.

@ATTYHARRIS Yes I’m sure all 75+ million people who voted for Kamala stayed home today. And all the people who showed up to protest in the cold are the same people too lazy to vote in 2024. Solid logic.

No one who goes outside and interacts with people speaks like this. This is what an out of touch rich guy sounds like when he’s forced to encounter people not in his tax bracket
Adam Wren@adamwren

“I’m a megaphone, right?” @hasanthehun tells me. “There are a lot of Barbs and Deborahs out there in Minneapolis, for example, that have never encountered me, and yet they share that frustration with the failures of establishment liberalism all the same.” politico.com/news/2026/03/2…

@AdamTsuris Imagine if you’d showed up to one and actually saw the organizing that goes on on the ground. How do you think Minnesotans were so organized ahead of the ICE invasion?

Not sure who needs to hear this, but the right wing has spent decades building a media ecosystem that now dominates our politics. Trying to damage or destroy the gains made by the left will not help us expand the tent and win elections. We need a coalition to win.

@WokeMitt The people who show up to these protests are also the ones that vote. The people who don’t believe in voting or are too lazy to do it, also don’t believe in protesting or are too lazy to do it.

Protests are fun, but they don’t change anything. You have to vote. You have to vote for Democrats. Too many ideologically “pure” people didn’t do that in 2016 and 2024. That’s why we’re in our current position. You have to vote for Democrats. It’s easier to do than protesting.

@_letterbxmb If you had bothered to go to one you’d see all the people organizing in person toward specific causes. But hey stay here and do all your faux revolutionary organizing on Elon Musk’s app.

Ok I understand needing to go out and vent frustrations with like-minded people but No Kings is frustrating ME bc it doesn’t look like there’s any organized effort to focus on Iran, Gaza, climate change, or any issue in particular like it’s just a liberal get together???

ORGANIZE!
ORGANIZE!@SoulRevision·
Yes the ‘No Kings’ rallies are problematic But if you are an organizer and that rally is where working class folks are showing up in mass, it’s far more strategic to leverage their turnouts to organize as many people as you can than it is to critique it all day long.

@IrishEcocritic May Day is coming up! It's on a Friday. A perfect day for a general strike. there are likely unions and community orgs in your area actively organizing for this right now

What if instead of weekend marches (avoiding any meaningful disruption) that don't do anything but make participants feel good about themselves, everyone agreed to a general strike? Even a one-day strike would make a stronger statement than 'clever' signs and choreographed dances
