Many Nigerians who get crumbs and paltry monthly salaries from politicians feel they’re living the best of lives without realizing that the crumbs they get from these economic buccaneers are just a fraction of what they were meant to get should the government be responsible. What all of us are living in Nigeria is not a standard life, our assumed good life is what people in other parts of the world cannot tolerate. The saddest reality is that we have normalized this anomaly to the point that we now see it as a privilege when public officials hoarding our resources perform even below standards. Having a 24/7 power supply is not a privilege, it’s a right. Having your minimum wage align with the prices of goods in the market at every point in time is not a privilege, it’s a right. Having the hospitals attend to your medical needs even before thinking of how much you got isn’t a privilege, it’s a right. Too many things are wrong with Nigeria which we’re blinded to see because of ignorance, lack of exposure and lack of enlightenment.
