TWU Local 100 is proud to endorse New York State Assemblyman Alex Bores in the race to succeed longtime U.S. Representative Jerry Nadler for the 12th Congressional District. TWU Local 100 President John Chiarello said: “Alex Bores is the right man at the right time to represent New York’s 12th Congressional District… “Alex knows the danger of #AI as does no other candidate. A born and bred New Yorker…he understands the issues facing working people. “I call on all workers concerned about their livelihoods in the future to support Alex Bores for Congress in the June 23 primary.” #UnionStrong #UnionSolidarity #WeMoveNY #NY12 @transportworker @CentralLaborNYC @AlexBores

"Absolutely huge. It’s a signal that a 'new sheriff' is in town, that City Hall cannot be bought by Silicon Valley’s AI hawkers and their Wall Street backers. It’s an enormous shift and a direct smack at the abundance bro types who ultimately do not care about average, everyday New Yorkers, nor average, everyday Americans." @TwuSamuelsen

Congrats to @NYCMayor indeed. @sarthakgh is absolutely deluded with his comments regarding Zohran harming “the majority.” In one felt swoop the mayor has stood up for the Real Majority of NYC and thoroughly distinguished himself from Silicon Valley/ Wall Street sellouts like @GavinNewsom and NY’s own @GovKathyHochul , both of whom are more interested in the big money donation opportunities that AI brings, rather than the safety, security and economic well being of their constituents. Allowing Waymos unfettered access to places like Times Square or Downtown Brooklyn, would be dangerously destructive, with a record of inability to react properly to Ambulances, Firefighters, Police , Sanitation Trucks, Adverse Weather, Water-main breaks, Emergency Construction, etc. For NYC , neither Waymo nor its automated competitors are safe to coexist on the streets with. @CentralLaborNYC @NYSAFLCIO

Congrats to NYC Mayor on yet another push to harm the majority in the interest of protecting a minority interest group Waymo rollout in NYC has been stopped

Spoke to @KellyMena last week after the @NYCCouncil shared our Preliminary Budget Response. We’re focused on smart spending without reducing city services — and without putting the fiscal health of the city at risk.

Back and forth, all day long. On the Grand Central–Times Square Shuttle, it really does takes two to tango—one Train Operator takes it one way, the other brings it right back. Together, they’re making 50+ trips a tour, moving riders from the East Side to the West Side and back again without missing a beat. It might feel like a never-ending loop—but this is what it takes to keep New York moving. And down here, underground the entire time, they don’t even see the light of day until the job is done. We move New York. Have a great holiday weekend. @transportworker @CentralLaborNYC @AFLCIO #wemoveny

It doesn’t matter what bean-counting, bloviating, self-dubbed transit experts say in their abundance bros echo chambers. Polling shows that nearly 90% of subway riders support the 2-worker train crew. NYers want their @TWULocal100 Conductors and Train Operators on trains. Working NYers stand with the TWU and we stand with them. We will fight and win. And thank you for once again clarifying who are enemies are. @TwuSamuelsen

A federal judge dismissed a Brightline railroad lawsuit that, if successful, would have invalidated workers' successful vote to unionize. “This is a huge victory for the workers and the TWU,” @TwuSamuelsen said. “Brightline should finally realize it has reached the end of the line. The railroad’s multi-year attempt to silence its workers and deny them the right to negotiate for fair wages and benefits, has been nothing short of shameful." Union leaders and members gathered today to honor the memory of veteran Maintainer Helper Stephen Livecchi, who died in a tragic accident on this date in 2018 while directing bus traffic at the College Point Depot. Brother Livecchi was a beloved mainstay of the depot with 37 years on the job. He was 59 years old. In 2019, the Union unveiled a bronze memorial as a piper played. The plaque is near the entrance to the depot on 28th Avenue. After today’s remembrance at the site, President John Chiarello led a shopgate for MTA Bus members, along with PBL VP Danny D’Amato and other union officers. An investigation after Livecchi’s death led to the development of new safety protocols for bus movement which were put into place at all bus facilities. #WeMoveNY #UnionStrong #UnionSolidarity @transportworker @CentralLaborNYC @AFLCIO #WhenWeFightWeWin

“Zohran is a trade unionist. He’s one of us,” TWU International Pres. Samuelsen said, introducing ⁦@NYCMayor⁩ Zohran Mamdani at the James Connolly Irish American Labor Coalition luncheon. “When the nurses were out on strike, Zohran was out there on the picket lines.”

Tonight we held our annual Quill Connolly Celebration in the Bronx, when we honor TWU founder Mike Quill and the trade unionist and revolutionary who inspired him, James Connolly. TWU Local 100 President John Chiarello and TWU of America President John Samuelsen both addressed the attendees. Among our special guests for the evening were Sinn Fein Dublin Parliamentarian Louise O’Reilly and friends of Sinn Fein Greg O’Loughlin, John McDonald, Brendan Moriarty and Ciaran Quinn. Tom Browne, MaBSTOA 2 1st Vice Chair and Gun Hill Depot Chair, received a well-deserved award for his dedication and service to the union and its members. #WeMoveNY #UnionSolidarity #UnionStrong @transportworker @CentralLaborNYC @AFLCIO

TWU Local 100, representing 44,000 transit workers in and around New York, enthusiastically supports U.S. Representative Adriano Espaillat for re-election in 2026. Transit workers have a real friend in Congressman Espaillat. In Washington Heights, he helped us win reversal of the MTA’s plan to cut restricted duty jobs for Station Agents. Those jobs endure today. TWU Local 100 President John Chiarello said: “Local 100 members have been walking the streets of Washington Heights and Inwood for Adriano Espaillat for nearly 20 years, from one election to the next. We’re impressed by his record of sponsoring bills, supporting workers, and fighting discrimination. We’re with him for the fight in 2026.” A proud Dominican American, he speaks from the heart to many NYC transit workers. He is also a former undocumented immigrant who is a role model for many. As a member of the House Committee on Appropriations and Chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, he focuses on transportation, immigration reform and affordable housing. He’s pro-transit and pro-worker and he’s in our corner. We look forward to getting out the vote for him in 2026. #WeMoveNY #UnionSolidarity #UnionStrong @transportworker @AFLCIO @CentralLaborNYC @RepEspaillat
