Since today is the start of the draft I have a question I’m hoping @CJNitkowski can help with. Other than competitive balance picks, why can’t teams trade draft picks? What is the disadvantage to either side preventing agreement in collective bargaining?

About a month later, a pipe burst in our basement during one of the coldest weekends of the year. By the time I found it, several inches of filthy water had already flooded the entire floor. Frustrated, I sent a message to the family group chat saying I had no idea what I was going to do. Less than thirty minutes later, there was a knock at my door. Standing outside was my daughter's boyfriend. He had driven almost an hour through a snowstorm after finishing a long shift at work. Without hesitation, he grabbed his gear and headed straight into the basement. For nearly three hours he worked in freezing, disgusting water. Hauling debris. Helping me stop further damage. Moving soaked boxes and furniture. The entire time he never complained. Not once. When we finally got everything under control, he was exhausted, soaked, and shivering.

My daughter brought her new boyfriend to Thanksgiving dinner last year. He was 25 and worked for a septic tank service company. The kind of job most people don't brag about. He showed up in a plain hoodie and worn-out work boots that looked like they'd seen better days. He was respectful enough, but quiet. While everyone else talked about promotions, college degrees, and career plans, he mostly listened and smiled. After dinner, when they left, I turned to my wife and said, "I don't get it." She asked what I meant. I said, "Our daughter is smart, educated, ambitious... and she's dating a guy who spends his days pumping sewage." My wife didn't argue. She just looked at me and said, "Maybe she sees something you don't." At the time, I thought she was wrong.

Which Hall of Fame player would receive the most backlash if they debuted today?

@kencrowe95 Well, I just looked at a couple of things. Looks like a PSA 8 is about a $200 card based on eBay comps. Signed adds about $100. I'd probably just buy a second one then worry about getting it subbed later, all things considered.

Looking for some advice from you @grantmcauley. Would you crack a PSA 8 Dale Murphy reverse negative to get autographed?

@grantmcauley I think you said it best, “I don’t focus on grades”. I don’t either so I guess I need to quit overthinking it and crack it!

@kencrowe95 Good question... I don't focus as much on grades, but would check the pop report for starters. PSA is also apparently on crazy backlogs now, but at some point you could resubmit. Either way, it's really up to you. Could you just buy a second one raw and get that signed?
