❌ An earthquake-affected area, where internally displaced people were reportedly sheltering ❌ At least 16 casualties, mostly women & children ❌ The Myanmar Air Force is the only actor in Myanmar with airstrike capability This cannot continue. All civilians must be protected
Centre for Information Resilience@Cen4infoRes

Last week, reports emerged that airstrikes hit a monastery in Sagaing, where many people were seeking refuge from the violence in surrounding villages. CIR’s @MyanmarWitness collected and analysed content related to the incident that has been surfacing online and confirmed the location. The investigation found the attack led to at least 16 casualties, almost all of whom were women and children. Another 50 people were reportedly injured. 1/

Today is Aung San Suu Kyi's 80th birthday. She will spend today, alongside thousands of other political prisoners, in detention in Myanmar at the hands of the Myanmar regime. Release Aung San Suu Kyi. Release all those arbitrarily detained.

We are appalled to see this evidence of airstrikes by the military regime during their ceasefire and at a time of national disaster We call for all actors to protect civilians, for unimpeded humanitarian access, and for the military regime to uphold the ASEAN 5 Point Consensus
Centre for Information Resilience@Cen4infoRes

In the four weeks following the earthquake, @MyanmarWitness documented 80 air attack incidents across the 12 different states and regions of Myanmar. Most of these incidents involved claims of airstrikes, which only the Myanmar Air Force has the capacity to carry out.

The UNSC is clear - humanitarian aid must reach the most vulnerable following Myanmar’s devastating earthquake. All parties must allow aid to reach people in need, and humanitarian workers must be protected.
